The plan was working.

Despite no new converts to Ratholicism, the Brethren were being noticed, and a small local paper had given the team and the Church a favourable write-up on their spirt following their brave (if futile) attempt to break the Falcon's Clage. Even better from the council's point of view, Azock was too busy at team training to attend most church meetings, and too tired to be annoying at the few he got too.

Exicitement was in the air during the pre-match Worship Ceremony, with the Elders heads filled with thoughts of a good attendance to the game, and the opportunity to preach to new faces. However even in their most selfish thoughts they hadn't dreampt of the sight that would greet them as they began the short walk from the Temple to the stadium.

Thousands of blue and brown clad supporters lined the path, singing the team's hymns, and thus inadvertently praising the Rat-God. Surley so many voices would be heard by the Lord, and amongst so many, surely there were some ready to return to the Church's fold?

The voices were quickly silenced though. Hassz the Smell and Irsz the Horned One worked together to create a hole in the Far Coast Forestals line, allowing Pulo the Infected, Lurz the Hook, Zulbag one Ear and Nagrat to push into catching positions in the backfield. However Larhahr Dragonslayer was quick to react, and knocked out The Hook on his way to marking Pulo. Irksiz the Brown sprinted past the surging elven defence, to pass the ball to Azock, who was operating as the link from the ball retrieval squad to the catchers. However with the sun in his eyes the brown one missthrew the ball, and the Elves capitalised. Haraah Deathwolf picked up the ball, ran foward and handed it off to Teragb Shadowlyre to score the easiest of touch downs.

From the restart the Brethren pushed foward again, but with no better results. With Pulo acting as the quarterback, the simple pass to an unmarked Zulbag was unable to find it's target. This time however, the Forestals were unable to clear the ball and following some agressive Skaven blocking Zulbag was able to pick up the ball and cross the line.

The elves were being tended too by a Bloodwiser Promotions girl, and 2 of their players seemed to be enjoying her attention so much they missed whistle to join the next drive. A brawl between Skreetz and Etilrach Silvergleam ended with both players hitting the ground hard, and while the elves attention was focused on the welfare of their team mate Irksiz the Brown was able to take advantage of the distraction and pounce on the ball.

Aluhrier Maddance was able to knock him down, and knock him out, but the lines of the Farcoasters were in disaray and Hassz the Smell took the opportunty to hit Maddance with a block that end his game, and give Irsz the Horned One the chance to grab the bobling ball and score. 2-1 to the Brethren at the half.

With their tails up and a one player advantage the Rats were able to pour though the elven lines in the second half, and capitalise of some uncharacteristic Forestal handling errors, scoring another three touch downs, including a brilliant solo effort from Irksiz the Brown who managed to doge past 2 players, pick the ball up from under the feet of anther two, before side-stepping them to cross the line.

In the final moments of the game, Forestals Line Elf Haraah Deathwolf fell awkwardly while blocking Azock, straining the Muscles in his groin. The Apothecary sugested a healing potion of hemlock, but Deathwolf claimed he would prefer to let it heal in it's own time.

At the Post-match celebration ceremony, holy wine was flowing, and large numbers of drunk fans dived into the babtismal fountain, which was taken as an agreement to join the Cult. Buyoyed by their success, the players have trained hard in the early part of the week, and gains are beginning to be made.

It's early days still but the fusion of religion and sport is looking to produce a winning situation for both.

Twahnlows

1 point - Teragb Shadowlyre - Scoring is the catchers job, but when the opportunity came his way, he made the most of it.

2 points - Haraah Deathwolf - Despite his woeful efforts in the blocking department, he was a successful ball player for the Forestals and crucial to their TD

3 points - Larhahr Dragonslayer - I lost count of how many times he knocked over a ball carrier, or strengthened his teams position with a block. The whole time he was on the pitch he was involved in the action and making things hard for me.

There were some tough dice there for you SonofSharkboy, but with another ReRoll, I think you will be a great woodies coach.

#11 Haraah Deathwolf – Groin Strain (MNG)
Excellent write up by my opponent. I'd welcome any suggestions from those who watched the Far Coasters Fall.

1 point - While I was tempted to give this to a linerat, Zulbag one Ear proved he was top Gutter Runner despite a few hiccups on the field.

2 points - Hassz the Smell - Excellent blocking and overall skill gives this rat two votes well earned. The Gutter Runners could learn well from his example.

3 points - Irsz the Horned One - Irsz put on a one rat school of how to block. He was knocking things down whenever it was required. Block? Dodge? Doesn't matter! Time to eat dirt!
