#8 Kenneth the Page – Fractured Skull (-AV)
An unusual match: with 12 games and an overall winning record, you wouldn't expect these ogres to be facing a lizard team with no skills and no purchases. But they apparently had rotten luck last game, losing three ogres (and no Snotlings?) to MNG injuries. So here they were for a recovery game, and it was a recovery game they had. The lizards didn't even manage to harm a single snotling. That much having been said, they did pull an upset win in a match where the ogres rarely got the ball past midfield.

The ogres received in the first half, and after a riot consumed the first three minutes of play, they got stuck in on their side. The ball was trapped in a field of snotlings, and the lizards failed to get in or beat the snotlings away. Unfortunately, the snotlings couldn't get out either! The talents of ogre Hellbilly came into play; the only player on either side with block, Hellbilly waded into the scrum, and was a huge nuisance to the Skinks. Also a huge nuisance: the snotlings' refusal to fall, either to blocks (few) or to dodges (many). Eventually, a snotling got free for a desperation turn-8 TTM... but to no avail. 0-0 going into the half.

Fortunately for the fans' patience, the opening drive of Turn 2 was more decisive. The Lizards got the ball, and demonstrated their speed... it quickly became apparent that a snotling can't catch a skink in the open field, and Josh Girard came in quickly for the first score.

The lizards kicked off, and again, the snots milled about. The main difference here was that Hellbilly was not available, tied up by a Saurus on the wing of the field.. The other two ogres were also tied up by Sauri on the line, leaving two of the big lizards to help out on attacking the little Snotlings. Eventually, a Snot fell down and the ball bounced to the edge of the scrum, where it was picked up by Subhas... and yet again, the Snotlings couldn't catch him. 2-0 Lemons.

A short fourth drive yielded little in the way of conclusive results. Another Snotling was thrown, and actually landed on his feet... but eight squares short of the goal as the clock ran down.

Snotling Mad Sin's block of Kenneth the Page was the only casualty of the game, and it so impressed the fans that both players received MVP awards. (Kenneth will be celebrating from a hospital bed, and his 6 Av destines him for hazardous duty in the near future... but at least Side Step means he'll survive longer in that duty, right? Right?) Josh and Subhas also earned skills, with Josh rolling a double and learning to block.

Good game, and good luck to the Ogres, now that they are back to their true roster!
