The game started with the Vampires kicking short. The Dark Elves immediately tried blocking the fearful thralls to try and gain a numerical advantage early on. Luckily a cowering thrall fell on top of a Dark Elf lineman that brought him down. The Dark Elf coach shouted at the lineman to try and get up but it was no use both players went down again.
The vampires saw their chance to steal the ball straight away. First the blood thirsty vampires blocked a hole in the Dark Elf screen before biting the thrall whimpering on the floor. The next two Vampires used their hypnotic gaze to distract two Dark Elf linemen. This cleared a path for a thrall to pick the ball up and then run back into safety. Sadly confidence was low with the thralls and he fluffed his lines, the coach yelled at him to try catch his fumble but it was too late. The ball was on the ground. The Dark Elves burst out laughing at the useless thralls’ inability to pick up the ball and proceeded to skip past him with the ball and made a line for a wide zone.
The vampires were not deterred though and they tried again to get the ball, this time from the hands of a Dark Elf Blitzer. Clearly the pressure was too much for the Vampire - he couldn’t quite reach the Blitzer so tried to push himself on one more yard to get the sack in, but he failed, tripped, landing right at the Blitzer’s feet. (2RR gone both duds ;) )
The Dark Elves then skipped past the vampires casually for the first touchdowns of the game. This did leave the vampires more than enough time to equalise before the half was up, was this Dark Elf arrogance that they could stop the vampires with ease? Or was it more confidence in the Vampires inability to do anything constructive? Who knows ;)
The Vampires went for the touchdown quickly trying to use their superior strength to shepherd the ball carrier down a wide zone early on. The Dark Elves were wise to this ploy and used their superior skill set to confidently one dice block the vampires to set up a chain-push crowd surf. This brilliant piece of play was rewarded sending the ball carrier into the stands leaving the Vampire attack severely depleted. However the ball was still in reach of a vampire and was in range to score the equaliser with two turns left. The Vampire grabbed the ball and dodged into relative safety. The Dark Elves tried to knock him down but this time he stayed standing, the final turn saw him just in range of the end zone with just one dodge and a GFI to make and with 1 final RR. The vampire got too excited though and his bloodlust ran wild, the coach managed to calm him down just before he charged off in search of the nearest thrall (0 RR left) and the bloodlust subsided. The vampire dodged past the Dark Elf Lineman and ran for the end zone his team mates started celebrating but on the final step the vampire tripped and the ball bounced free. No touchdown and the whistle went for half time.
The second half wasn’t quite so even, the vampires went for a quick touchdown in the hope that they could score quickly get the ball back off the Dark Elves and score again. Sadly it wasn’t to be, the vampire attack faded out into nothing after a deep kick from the Dark Elves resulted in numerous failed attempts to pass the ball, catch the ball and failed GFIs. The end result was the Dark Elves stole the ball and scored for a deserved win.
All the Lost Boys hopes now lie in their next game against Lizardmen. The vampires also need the Dark Elves to win their remaining games and a couple of other results to go their way, but they will not give up till the end.
