Taking the always fun Star player Nobbla Blackwart into the match, the Temps were stoked that the ref was beaten senseless by the fans on the opening kick-off (not sure what he did to earn their ire before he had even made a call, maybe the coin-toss?) and each team received a nice bribe to be used later.
The Dandies started off with a lightening quick 2-turn TD, this was made nice and easy by the complete lack of anything resembling a decent defence by the Temps...
The Temps received on their 2nd turn, already down 1-0 and thought they might try making a dent in the Elves before scoring, this sort of didn't work when Nobbla rolled double 1's for kick-back on the 3rd turn and promptly badly hurt himself.
The Temps tried to cage and press forward, but the Elves had a few more skills and as much guard as the Temps had, with their agility advantage meaning they had it were they wanted. The Temps game-plan was, as usual, completely lacklustre and they stumbled around the field in a confused muddle, getting confined easily by the High Elves. A few "unlucky" blocks didn't help, but with no plan they inevitably always occur. Their last hope being an incredibly bad break-away manoeuvre from the BC late in the half, the Elves easily got the 1db POW, and the bounce went straight into the Dandies hands. With a slight chance remaining, 4db failed to produce the knock-down and it was all over.

The 2nd half went even worse for the Temps, some bad positioning put them in danger from a High Elf liner pushed into their cage by his own team-mates, and the ensuing 2db against rolled double POW's and then there were Elves everywhere! The next turn had one of those horrible sk,sk RR fail things early and it was all over from there! The Temps managing a consolation TD (only just though! god we are incompetent) solely because the High Elves had their victory smoke-up early and forgot how to dodge or position.

Twahnlows:

3pts - #1 Lord Debenham - The Ag5 Blitzer of godamn the ball is never safe!
2pts - #3 Doctor Waitrose - We hit and hit this catcher, but then the apoth came on and saved him! damn bugger got a TD too.
1pt - #11 Mark Spencer, QC - Deserves his point for wrestling all those sweaty, hairy dwarves to the ground all game long.

Thanks for the match Luohghcra and good luck for the rest of the season, maybe in a couple of seasons time when I've remembered how to play I'll give you a good game.

#8 Thornton Sainsbury – Fractured Skull (-AV)
In this, the fifth game in our fame-seeking season in the infamous SWL, we faced a dark proposition - dark Dwarves coached by the famed and feared Sandune! Taking the field with grit and determination, the Dandies sought to dazzle the height-challenged beardies, putting a point on the board stupendously early. Defending now, the Dandies discovered an incongruous thing - the Placeholders seemed to be a team of fumbling amateurs! Perhaps their Coach had been too long away from the game? Even hired Star, Nobbla (the reason behind the legion of fans backing the underdogs) caught the bug, and removed himself from the game whilst trying to foul the good Doctor.
In the end, despite finally finding their blocking groove, the chaotic dwarves just couldn't stop the Dandies. Creative crowd control early in the second half saw the ball pop loose, and Lord Debenham get away easily for the winning touchdown.

The Doctor has been kind enough to again nominate the Twahnlows for this game:

3 points must be given to the imperious yet somewhat ineffective Imp Ermanent. It's always hard to ignore such impressive creatures, particularly when they wear hats as fine as this one! Shame he couldn't lower himself to take part in the actual scrum, though.

I graciously award 2 points to In Terimonly - what a solid right hook the shorty had! Clear knocked me out of my own head for a moment there. I'll be keeping a closer eye on him next we meet.

The final point I award to Stopgap, the hobgoblin who stayed true to his name. His three blocks resulted in a KO on Mister Littlewoods - if he'd hit just a little harder, Littlewoods may not have been able to make the game-winning takedown on Mr. Ermanent!

Thanks for the game Sandune! Hope you keep at it - always good to see luminaries from the past back to put the fear of Nuffle into the younger crowd (myself included;)
