“The Blood Bowl styles of 1995 (give or take) again prove effective, in this case against a roster that didn't even exist until 2010 or so. In all fairness, rookie (ish) orcs vs. rookie Pact isn't exactly a fair fight, and I'm sure we'll receive our much-deserved comeuppance when that same Pact team stands against us a few hundred TV from now, various types of pombers in tow.
For now, though, we were content to stay close, make the dice rolls happen and let the orc roster do their thing. In keeping with our nonviolent image, the Marauders actually threw ten more blocks against us than we did against them. (55-45.) But with black orcs to contend with and no block, those blocks proved mostly ineffective. (With the exception of the guy who injured Da Goof. Oh, Da Goof... will you ever manage to keep out of trouble? Probably, yes.)
Hakkawem scored two TDs. Skott added one after some late-drive follies. But the MVP of the match was probably Dork Happo, who did something very like us (2 completions) and something not much like us at all (2 casualties). To insure that he keeps playing the team's way, we gave him Accurate. Hakkawem took Guard, which is kind of bad news for him, because it means he's destined for a career locked up in scrums. But maybe we need that!
Still... more TDs than casualties, check. At least one completion per game, check. Running the ball out instead of caging up or stalling, check. So far, this team is living up to their premise, and it's not costing them games. (Then again, it's hardly news that rookie orcs win a lot. We're keeping our optimism in check for now... a little.)
Anyway -- good luck to Spinball and his team, and thanks for the game!”
