“Once again, the accursed Kneecappers because the amusing plaything of Nuffle.
In Sweltering Heat, with a Blitz in the first drive, things started promisingly - overwhelming pressure from the Chaos team eventually led to a score. 1-0
Feeling confident, the Pact setup to defend again. Things went well, and with one turn for both team left, the Pact dispossessed the Werewolf with the ball and ignored the Wight in their backfield, as the number of dice needed to get the ball to him were surely beyond hope....well, as it turned out, the Danish Models not only did, but badly hurt a Marauder in the process. What should have been a 2-0 half-time score became 1-1, with the Pact 4 players down, including the slumbering Troll.
Receiving while outnumbered, the Kneecappers pushed to score quickly - a pinpoint kick left Belial Painwright, the Dark Elf, with it all to do - fortunately, he was on his game and retrieved the ball and deposited it in the hands of a waiting Marauder with a Long Pass. With the reroll gone, he couldn't risk a GFI to take him out of range of all the necro players - there'd be a 1db or Dodge to survive to score. And so it proved - the resulting blitz yielded a Both Down - reroll - Skull.
Nicodemus ignored the loud, grating stream of invective being hurled from his opposite number's dug out, and set about retrieving the ball with his Werewolves and getting it upfield. The next few turns featured skirmishing for the ball, and somehow, at the death, the Kneecappers knocked over the Werewolf with the ball. With no rerolls left, the Werewolf failed his pickup in the last turn and the Kneecappers collapsed to the parched ground, having somehow clung on to a draw that had seemed so unlikely.
Apologies to Nicodemus for catching him in the crossfire of my battle with Nuffle.
P.S. I didn't get a chance to add to my kneecapping victims, no fouls at all!”
