“What an awesome game! This was always going to be a pretty brutal battle, and when it turned out the weather was miserable on the day, it was always going to come down to a largely blocking battle. Amoeba had the better of the armour breakers, but Benign Growth were better at maiming once they got through, so it was bound to be a close encounter.
Going into the first half, Amoeba's goals were simple, try and neutralise the Growth's Star Blitzer Noru, while trying to score themselves, and prevent the Growth from scoring. A mistimed foul soon saw smacked in the dugout for no gain, but Schrulurb soon came through and sent Noru packing. We're told he'll probably have to miss another game with the injury.
Unfortunately, we were not able to advance the ball as we would have liked, as depsite seeing off Qit, the Growth's Beast, their superior Rotters were able to tie up a large portion of our players, enabling a few beastmen to break through into our backfield. After Rhlaarr was knocked out, we left without a ball handler of sufficient quality to advance the ball in the backfield in the slippery conditions. With some amazing agility shown bt Tymai, the Growths were able to score in the dying seconds of the first half.
The second half began, and soon turned into an almighty scrum in the middle of the pitch, with the ball right in the middle! At this point, both coaches believed that no more scoring would be likely to occur, as it looked as though the ball would be impossible to extract, even with Qit once more disabled, though this time he was merely stunned and unable to recover due to his own stupidity.
However, a Rotter soon fell with a poorly timed block, allowing an opportunity for Amoeba to seize the advantage. This they did, eventually retrieving the ball at the hands of Lorril, who after a series of near bungles, was eventually able to score, and the game was tied.
Though the crowd bayed for overtime, Father Nurgle decided there was work to be done spreading disease and decay, but a rematch would be in order down the track.”
“A clash of Nurgle's titans...
In short this was a great game - exciting, close and violent. Noru finally got a good smack around the head and actually left without a cas! If anyone will ever play any of our two teams, a rematch will have to be arranged. Nurgle requires a winner!
I also hope the spectators had as good a time as we did! :)”
