“With the team values so close together, auld Hack Enslash couldn't make an appearance. To make up for it the Skullz' Owner, Gerryz Frackenskullz, dug deep into the treasury and pulled out enough to hire the cutlass wielding Sinnedbad. The crazy corsair soon put his sword to good use, chopping down the treeman, Broadleaf Shadebearer, in the second turn. A Blitz allowed the halfmen to snatch the ball from the kickoff and scamper back into cover, but 4 men down in as many turns the Champs soon found themselves overwhelmed. Penned in by skellies, they didn't have the speed to break free and the ball changed hands a number of times in the mid field melee before the Skullz superior numbers counted and they broke free for a turn 8 score.
The Champs had a chance to tie going into the break but the flying 'Fling landed one square too short to make the end zone and the Skullz kept their lead at the half time interval.
Broadleaf failed both his attempts to pull himself back together and the Champs started the second half a treeman light. It was to prove decisive as the solo pot-plant on the pitch, Silverbark, was ganged up on and spent the majority of his time on the floor. So much so that he rooted himself to the ground! The little guys couldn't break through into the Skullz' half and eventually spilled the ball. At which point the Skullz did the typical Khemri thing and gathered round it in a group to stare at it until the game was over.
I feel a bit sorry for Col. Losing an AV10 guy for the match on the second turn to a stab was a bit perverse. But considering how rubbish my Secret Weapons had been the last two games he was just unfortunate to catch the upswing! ”
“I was speechless when that Stab happened - I actually missed it, it was so unexpected. I'd even parked the Treeman there to keep Sinnedbad quiet.
It's not like 'flings don't need all the help they can get!
On reflection, I think I should have coughed up the 100k for the chef anyway, as the inducements given away would have been outweighed by the reroll stealing. Khemri need their rerolls!”
