“A match spread other several days due to coach Wang's other worldly experiences.
Things began well for the Alternatives as Robbie III marked his debut with a dead journeyman line elf. The elves' defence wasn't good enough to hold the necromantic horrors back, but it was good enough to force them to score early.
The next drive saw coach Wang try out a new formation but having not played against many agile opponents in Black Box it left an easy way through. Despite elves flooding into the Alternatives half, they were only able to score on the final turn, though Wang is hesitant to watch the replay as he's sure he missed something.
The team's came out 1-1 for the second half and that's how the game finished. The Alternatives altered their defensive formation and were content to let the 2010ers try to find a way through. Although some would have liked a more aggressive defense, the agility 5 blitzer/ball carrier meant that something more pro-active would have been difficult. Ultimately the necros were rewarded for their patience when snakes downed the ST4 elf who was opening the way into the backfield. Sadly, a befuddled Wang failed to see a way to capitalize, and the Nobles retained the ball.
With all their players marked, down or out of range the high elves had one last card to play, trying the long bomb (AG5 = 4+) to a catcher who stood up and escaped his markers. The Alternatives breathed a collective sigh of relief when the pass was fumbled and, after a turn of meaningless blocks the game was over.
Thanks for an interesting game Bardazur. I wish I could have seen the way to take advantage of those snakes you rolled.”
