“Driving rain and a still weakened team left Belshazza Brut looking like easy pickings. But unforced errors swept in to save the day, as well as a rather stealthy journeyman hobgoblin, who would not take defeat for an answer.

The Norse drive started well, with a knock-out and hard hits leaving the chaos dwarves reeling. Babe, Polli's strong-man runner, collected and started a hard rush through the weakened line of Brut's defense. But the ugly dwarflings rallied themselves and a lucky block on the Norse runner had the ball dancing through the rain-soaked pitch. Fumbles on either side to save the ball; it emerged in the hobgoblin's hand and he stumbled across the line. 1-0 Brut at half time.

Injuries were starting to take their toll on the Norse team, with Vescar Imzaz, Uzist Jah and Mashi Zirekko all starting to throw their weight properly. Knockouts on the hobgoblins in retaliation wasn't enough. But the rain caused its own problems and Mezion tried and failed repeatedly to pick up the ball at the start of the second half. Babe was there to capitalise on the centaur's errors, and after two strong blitzes, forced Mezion off the ball, and tied for Polli.

With time ticking down, Mezion managed to collect and launch Belshazza Brut's counter-attack. The Norse threatened, but could not complete, and Mezion handled from deep in Brut's half all the way to the touch line. Final score 2-1. ”
