Skelly's team coach came to this match with a simple game plan. They came to inflect the pain. A cunning and somewhat underhanded tactic of fouling at every opportunity saw the Amazons numbers quickly reduced. Whilst this is not the most attractive style of play it brought back a feeling of 'old skool' to the match.
The Amazons kept their game plan - and tried to stay on their - and with a little bit of dodging, weaving and last gasp efforts managed to run the ball in.
1 - 0 Half time to the Amazons.
The second half started in the same vain....foul...foul...foul..injury...injury...injury and then the referee spots a foul! And off goes the player and the numbers are just about even. Well, when I say even the Khermi only out number the Amazons 2 to 1. 10 vs 5 and deep into the second half the coaches glance up to the score board and with some disbelief see that the Amazons are still winning. The only left is for the Khermi coach to change plan and try and score but no, wait, what's this....another foul and again the referee spots that one too. That's 7 fouls in this game and the final foul may have been one too many. The ball carrier is exposed on one side and the Amazons can run around the back and knock the ball out of his hands.
The crowd stand up and they sense what is about to happen. The Amazons pick-up the ball and run halfway to the end-zone. To far to be caught but this has left the final few amazons surround my mummies and praying for a miracle. Blow after blow comes in and another injury but his will not stop a TD.
2 - 0 at the final whistle and the amazons players limp, crawl, drag themselves off the pitch.
Both coaches shag hands and wave at the crowd. They wanted a match to be interesting and this old skool party gave it to them! ”
