“Wooden Spoon Quest Continues!
The Bonchurch Beachcombers worked hard to reach their announced ogal of owning the Wooden Spoon in their match against the Shide Skinkss. Early on, it looked like their hopes of owning woodenware would be achieved as the manager ordered up the defense as the Beachcombers received the kick. However, they recovered and pulled off a nice full field pass play leading to a early 1-0 lead. The lead held until halftime as a combination of touch defense and errors in ball handling led to a stalled Skinkss drive.

However the Skinkss began pounding the surfboys when they took over the ball in the 2nd half and scored quickly. The Beachcombers took over the ball and drove deep into into Skinkss territory but turned over the ball. After neither team could take control of the loose pigskin, the Skinkss ran a beautiful blitz play allowing a skink to pick up the ball and hurl it deep away from all the surderdudes.

Bonnchurch is celebrating their latest loss in style as you will find wooden spoons displayed prominently in all store fronts and kitchen windows.”
