Lessons of the game...
Lesson #1 - Orcs are bigger than dwarfs
Lesson #2 - Grim can't change Lesson #1
Lesson #3 - Wizards aren't a guarantee of stealing the ball
We kicked first and stonewalled the dwarf drive. We kept them from ever forming a proper cage, and we eventually stole the ball. Some heroics (a 1db POW involved) took Bragkul down, and the dwarfs swarmed in to mark the ball. Some fouling and plain old bashing thinned the beards out (for the record, that cas line would have been 1/1/3 without the apo). 0-0 at the half
Second half starts with us receiving, and just 8 dwarfs against our 11 (though we have our gobbo out there, a minor moral victory for the dwarfs). The goblin actually catches the kick, and the dwarfs trigger their wizard, fireballing the gobbo down but neither freeing up the ball to steal, not hurting anyone. In fact, the dwarfs forgot and stood someone up pre-fireball, meaning that spell just ended their turn. We capitalize and march in for the 4-turn score with our rookie blitzer, Nazgrel . 1-0.
Perfect Defense! We overwhelm the dwarfs on the ensuing kickoff. Grim tries to loosen our stranglehold with a 1db, but skulls it and fails the reroll. We knock down their LOS and grab the ball with Nazgrel. A 1db both-down rerolled into a skull leaves a clear path to the end zone. 2-0, no point in stalling.
The last drive the dwarfs put something together. We don't make any risky plays to stop them, and give up a soft TD in T16. 2-1 final.
GG cap'n. We did wrong by your team, but I'm sure you can recover them.”
