They opt to kick first and we start well, scoring a KO on T1 and MNG'ing a journeyman on T2 while trying to keep the ball to the centre of the field. T4 and they get a 1d blitz on the ball carrier to knock it free, and then on T5 despite our attempts at surrounding the ball - steal it with a blitzer!
We put in a load of blocks, finally knocking him over, though we have now used up our final reroll while they have yet to touch their three. What follows is a bunch of bashing around the ball, with us scoring a 2nd -AV on their -AV lineman at one point. Then on T7 slight disaster as our thrower fumbles a pickup; their thrower dodges through, grabs the ball in a TZ... and then trips on the final dodge away! It's T8 so we go for broke... our thrower gets the ball and tries to pass to a goblin who's poised to handoff to our storm vermin waiting in range of their endzone... but ... ANIMOSITY!! Fortunately we can choose to pass to a rat - one who's only in one tackle zone - and he can with a GFI make it to the SV who catches and makes it 1-0!! Unlikely.. but we'll take it!!
Despite two attempts before the 2nd half both their KOs remain sleepy so they have just 7 vs our full squad as we kick off. We immediately KO a lineman, but then give up a block turnover that lets them dodge through the line with a lone blitzer. Time to go for broke: their thrower makes the pass.. but the sun is in his eye and he throws a bit low.. as our gobbo intercepts!!
This makes things easy for us and we rush through, putting in some crushing on the way (a -str that the apo saves and some more KOs from non-stop fouls) before making it 2-0 on T5.
We kick off again and with them so outnumbered put on the pressure with an early sack - but the thrower 1d blitzes well to knock the ball free. A lineman grabs it and goes for a long bomb downfield... almost making it! We try and set up another series of handoffs for a third TD but can't quite make it and the match ends.
