In all fairness, the death of Alex (35 SPP) wasn't caused by the high elves. It was a failed 2+ dodge. But Graham did kill Eddard Stark straight up with a blitz, and there were two more dead players saved by an apothecary. (Though in Trimm Trabb's case, "saved" just means "retired due to a MNG rather than death.")
Wood elves received and got out to a quick lead, aided by a blitz on the second kickoff of the game. But three Parklife players were injured/killed in the space of one turn, and while Tracy Jacks cleaned up the mess by picking up the ball and running it in, the high elves pressed home their advantage to move it back to 2-1. The woodies had 2 turns to make it 3-1 at halftime... Dave ran it out but got swarmed by high elf defenders. Playing turn-8 defense against the one high elf in a position to score, Graham killed his opposite blitzer Eddard. Dave's failure to make a 4+ dodge in turn 8 led us to a 2-1 halftime score.
The high elves quickly equalized in the second half, and swarmed the ball on the next kickoff, but the aforementioned long bomb made it 3-2 Parklife. Then it was the wood elves' turn to get into the backfield on defense, taking the ball and running a few players onto the opposing side. The two high elf journeymen swarmed Graham, knocking him down and taking the ball. Sensing the opportunity to tie, the high elves unleashed a fireball on three potential defenders up the field, but only took one out. On the wood elves' turn, one of the other two lineman assisted as Graham stood up and struck the journeyman down where he stood. The ball bounced directly into Graham's hands, and he went for it twice to run it in. Wardancers! The high elves scored one more time in the closing minutes of the game, but there wasn't enough time to make it cloer than that.
So there you have it... 7 touchdowns, 4 deaths before apo, 9 completions. Both teams should have gained fan factor for this one. Graham boosted his strength in the postgame sequence, a fitting result given his excellent all-around performance this game, and Stark lineman Graywind learned to guard.
Both teams appear to be in need of a rest after a hard-fought game, and while there are no certainties in Blood Bowl, things look relatively relaxing on both sides. Parklife moved up to 7-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 (with a forfeit win) this season, and will take on the second-year squad WILlpowered Skinks, who have yet to find success in the White Isle environs, being outscored 3-24 thus far. Meanwhile, the high elves (1-1-1) are scheduled to take on the Kung Fu Vikings, but the Norsemen haven't been seen this year, forfeiting their first game and looking like a fair bet to miss their second.
(Thanks to Insanitie for a great game -- and good luck to your elves!)”
