The Ranas received the ball in the first half, and QB Croak Warner passed it up to Frog Legs Hirsch, who spent time showboating in the end zone... and was promptly blitzed and knocked out. Following a pair of blocks, the ball rolled into the end zone, was tossed to the right sideline, and landed within five yards of Merlin Toadsen, who grabbed it and ran it in. The Ranas proceeded to double their lead going into halftime, when a fumbled Atlatl pick-up went deep into an unoccupied corner of the Falchions' backfield, and Warner was the first to get there and run it in.
Controversy broke out late in the third quarter when Ty'wain Myl's went down midway through a drive. Replays would show that the Ranas' Marshall Frog had performed a fairly questionable-looking chop block on the big Saurus, but at the time, the refs called for the turnover, enabling the outmanned Ranas to run in their third TD and clinch the victory. (Ironically, a number of Falchions fans ran onto the field to protest the call, and ended up delaying the game and removing the Falchions' last chance at the win.)
This game might be best remembered, though, for a quote made by Croak Warner in the post-game interviews. Asked about the pair of favorable sideline bounces that gave the Ranas their lead, he replied simply, "Fans love frogs." The slogan has become a rallying cry for Los Slanngeles' football faithful, and "Fans Love Frogs" T-shirts and hats are already being printed by the merchants of Lustria. (Which is weird, because have you ever seen a frog wearing a hat? But someone's buying them...)”
