#12 Itzipek of the Blood Pyramid – Fractured Skull (-AV)
A worthy final for the 11th White Island Fringe Plate was concluded with the Itza Insequents emerging as narrow overtime victors in a thrilling night match.

A sterling first half display (despite numerous floodlight failures forcing the players to stay absolutely still for a rather long period of time) from the Blackjack Bounty Hunters saw them take a deserved 1-0 lead into the half-time interval having overcome a determined defensive display by the Insequents, who just could not get enough bodies back to deny the TD.

The second half began with both teams down to 10 men (a journeyman happy to be paid but not play sitting out the match for the Insequents and a lineman overcome by the magnitude of the occasion not returning for the Bounty Hunters). Following some inspiring words from both coaches, the blood began to fly in the second half, with both teams suffering casualties - two further players were KO'd for the Itsequents and another skink was patched up by the apothecary. The Bounty Hunters were hit harder, however, as Adohigarex decided to show his team-mates how its done and began to systematically dismantle his opponents, badly hurting one and seriously injuring another. A foul from the Blackjacks saw a badly hurt skink leave the field, but at the price of their catcher, banned for foul play. A standard grind followed for the Lizards, Saurii dealing out blocks and the remaining skinks running rings around the opposition to stall out for the equaliser at the death. With one play reminaing, the Bounty Hunters played for the OTTD but, coming up just short, changed their plans and gang-fouled one of the Insequents two blockers, seriously injuring the Saurus, Itzipek of the Blood Pyramid, and ensuring that OT would be played by 8 players on both sides.

The Bounty Hunters won the toss for OT and received the kick. Unable to overcome the line of scrimmage, they sent three players wide down the right whilst shielding their thrower, Deadlights Wormwood, on the left. With fewer numbers on the pitch, the Lizards now showed their strength, injuring three further players and shifting the balance undeniably in their favour. Pressuring Deadlights Wormwood, the Insequents forced a change of plan. In an attempt to switch the play, Wormwood moved the ball to the right, attempting a hand-off to Captain Keg Stoker and fumbled the ball. Seeing their chance, the Insequents swarmed in, surrounding the ball, eventually turning it over on their next play. With numbers and strength on their side, the Insequents were able to shield the ball, opening an opportunity for the hand-off to Oatlotl of the Forests of the Viper, who exuberantly ran the ball home to crown his team champions.

In a post match conference, coach FreeRange hailed the mettle of his players and praised their determination: "To play as we did against a team with much more game experience and almost take the trophy is a huge confidence boost. We did everything we could, but Nuffle was smiling on our opponents today. Next time, things may be a little different though. We're going to re-group, train hard and let's just see if we can't take the W next time round."

Ar-Ulric, however, was unable to make a coherent statement after his teams win and a certain number of Bloodweisers. He was last seen with his team cheering and laughing slightly maniacally.
