What a match! Full of crazy inconceivable things and tension down to the last play of the game.

With the Horrors lining up to receive the opening kick they put their go to pestigor in the back. Har-scthacho, the only player on the team with anything resembling ball skills (+ag) fielded the first kick cleanly. Willow Hardbark had been planted on the line of scrimmage as is customary for elves, however with his impressive armor value of 10 he was quickly identified as the only thing worth the nurgles star player K'shanyshoiaa's time. K'shany the only player to have grown a set of claws so far. After some initial bad blacking and a re-roll K'shany stepped up and knocked the tree down! Sap oozed everywhere from the claw inflicted wounds! The flyers Apothecary rushed out to save his life, and the elves were relieved to know that he would be okay.

But that was just the first turn! Marching down the field the Horrors did their best to take the Flyers out of the game and off the pitch. K'shany targeting the less dodgey elves and piling on when necessary resulting in several KO's but only one elf getting Badly Hurt. All was looking well for the nurgle drive when a mistake in positioning allowed the Flyers thrower to make a set of dodges and a 1 die blitz on the ball carrier. Knocking the ball loose and knocking Har-Scthacho out in the process! The ball tumbled to the middle of the pile of elves and nurgle that had been gather near the Flyers endzone. After much bashing about by the nurgle in an attempt to recover the ball a Flyer was knocked prone on the ball and it went bouncing around only to be caught by the most unlikely player on the pitch. Kicthilla, the beast of nurgle had come up with the ball!

What a potentially lucky break for the Horrors! A few more Flyers bashed out of position and Kichtilla advanced towards the goal line. The Flyers put a desperate -2db blitz against the beast but only managed to push him back. A blitz by a pestigor and Kichtilla was all set to score until he became confused and very stupid for the first and worst timed moment in the game! Sadly the Horrors couldn't pry the ball from his tentacles and time expired before they could score. Kichtilla living up to his title of the worst beast of nurgle in the league.

The rain continued in the second half as the teams lined up, Willow Hardbark seemed to have coagulated nicely and was on the front lines once again for the Flyers. Half of the 6 players that had been in the KO box returned to the pitch as well, though that did not include Kournos Swordstar the teams only Wardancer. The kick off was sent deep, barely landing in bounds in the Flyers endzone. Willow took the chance to make his presence known by blocking two nurgle warriors at the same time. Then as the elf thrower went back to recover the ball, the unthinkable happened, he fumbled! The ball went out the back of the endzone and was thrown forward near the sideline, dangerously close to the nurgle team!

Sensing a chance to make up for the unexpected bad luck at the end of the first half the nurgles poured forward. The warriors got int he face of any elf they could find. K'shany went for Willow Hardbark a second time but failed to knock the treeman over. Having set for a more defensive position the Horrors were not ideally positioned to scramble to the loose ball, but a pestigor did make it to the ball only to fumble it in the rain. The following turn the Flyers scrambled to prevent the ball from falling into the Horrors hands, blitzing the pestigor away from the ball and swarming it with three elves. Willow Hardbark saw his chance to lay a big hit on K'shany who was standing next to him after an ineffective blitz. The treeman roared and raised up to clobber the nurgle warrior when POW! K'shany beat him to the punch! Willow Hardbark fell to the ground again and sap flew everywhere! Oh the treemanity! Willow was inches from death for a second time in the same game at the hands of the same player. The flyers had brought along a wandering apothecary who was rushed onto the field and amazingly Willow Hardbarks life was saved a second time!

Encouraged by the Horror's star players efforts the Nurgle made a play for the ball, trying to bash everything out of the way of the ball and take out the Flyers catcher lingering on the Horrors side of the field. Unfortunately a little slip in a puddle sent a warrior tumbling to the ground for an ill timed turnover. The flyers capitalized by scooping up the ball, passing it down field to the catcher who escaped getting blitzed due to the trip up, and hauled it down field for the score.

The rest of the second half would play out almost identical to the first half. Nurgles marching down the field, punching elves where ever they could. The dirty rotters fouling anything that hit the ground including a wardancer that failed to leap in and cage break the ball carrying Har-Scthacho. A few Ko's, no more injuries, but the Horrors were set again until the Flyers pushed the corner cage man and made a daring 1 die block that again put the ball on the ground! Much scrambling ensued by both teams but in the end neither team could pick the ball up and get it moving as the clock reached its last ticks. The Horrors hopes for a miracle last turn touchdown disappeared in a pile of skulls as they tried to bash elves away from the ball.

1-0 for the Flyers in a game of wildly swinging luck. The Flyers having pretty bad luck except for the crucial moments when it mattered most. And the Horrors having pretty good luck, except for when it mattered most. What a game.
