“Fumbbl Cup X round 3 game.

Interesting game that could have gone either way at many points. Chaos dwarves induce a wizard (less surprising) and Zzharg Madeye (more surprising). Before the game I was not so impressed with the team, since they only have 2 rerolls, some strange cows and no ballhandling ability. As long as the clawpombs don't go crazy this should be winnable.

CD's win kickoff, but it is nullified by perfect defence that forces them to blitz the los to get their killers to hit. Of course they start out by dishing a nice double SI on rotter. But killing rotters doesn't get them far, and nurgles show why they they are best on defence, by spreading out and outmuscling by the opposition. Furthermore they fail a lot of FA rolls and ball gets knocked loose from the blodge bull. Then suddenly the legend pestigor goes out to grab the ball and make some dodges and running manouvers to get into scoring range. Withstanding the 2dice block he then gets knocked free by a chainpush and dodges to score 1-0 on T8.

Second half starts with nurgle receiving and looking good, having lost some rotters and down to 10 players, but most important players are still on the field. Still as all through the game the clawpomb is unable to hurt the blockers, and in turn piles on in a questionable spot. Then all hell breaks loose as the CD's start making some nasty casualties with regen fail and foul out the legend pestigor, which is followed by a turn where 2 doubleskulls leave the ball open for them. They use their last reroll to knock it free and pick up with a bull, but the remaining nurgles force them to score early. But failing almost all KO rolls leaves the nurgles dangerously outnumbered on their own drive.

Nurgle try to move the ball but due to really low numbers are forced to take a lot of risks, and dorfs knock the ball free with 1 dice block, but a friendly crowd throws it towards their endzone. Then some no-fail dodging helps a warrior to blitz free and threaten a score, while the rest of the team run up to support. Chaos dwarves still focus on blocking and trying to hurt their opponents above all else, and with some nice luck with 2 dice against get the ball relatively safe. But the st4 pestigor has other plans, and blitzes free to pick up the ball in one tacklezone and sprint towards the endzone on T16, but all this running is simply too much and he falls over before reaching the goal.

Overtime starts the same way, nurgle win the cointoss but are really low on players because KO rolls are abysmally bad again, going with 5 against 11. And the soviet wizard is still looking on too. They spread out and feint one way and then the other, while the CD coach cuts them some slack by miscounting player strength. But in the end they are simply too few to capitalize on the possibilities their rerolless opponents give. Again a bull picks up the ball in a tight spot, and game looks over when Rutto decides to extract payment for this travesty by killing one of the blockers on T25 and goes to mark the ballcarrier hoping for another doubleskull. But nuffle supported his champion in the end and he was pushed away leaving the bull free to score.
