What started like a nightmare (despite the fact that I was receiving, my orcs suffered 4 casualties during the first three turns by an insane ogre and a well-placed boot) ended like a joke. This team has proven to be composed of green elves, not orcs!
The first score was an easy one, although painful too. While the opposing pact focused on destroying my team (in which they were fairly succesful), I got an easy touchdown. Because the greenskins' ranks got seriously thinned I couldn't stall the full half though. Neither could I field 11 players... Three more turns and I almost prevented the equalizer, almost... 1-1 at halftime.
Odds looked far from great when the pact was receiving in the second half. Nevertheless, a failed pickup (and a stubborn refusal to reroll it) offered opportunities for my green elves. I managed to get some orcs around the ball, but they were still heavily outnumbered and getting beaten up. An unlucky troll block resulted in a turnover though and I dodged onto the ball with a rookie blitzer, picked it up in two tacklezones, jumped out and ran as far as I could. Not far enough to be safe though, but the ensuing ogre blitz resulted in a push only (reroll was already spent on a going for it). Next turn I dodged and scored: 2-1.
Still three turns left though and only six orcs on the field. What seemed to be destined to end in a logical draw instead ended up in total madness. A black orc managed a 6+ dodge (no reroll), followed by a 4 +dodge (rerolled), two gfi's and a succesful 2d blitz on the rat carrying the ball, which popped free and ended up in the crowd. It was thrown back over another sideline and ended up somewhere in the center of the field, around 4 squares of my end zone. I managed to put a tacklezone on it and started my prayings to Nuffle. They seemed to have had effect, because the blitz failed again, as did the 3+ marauder dodge to get free to pick up the ball.
Very entertaining albeit unreal game.
Conclusion: elves can be green as well.”
