#15 Ramondo Scarewood – Groin Strain (MNG)
A hard fought match the could've gone either way.

It started out really positive for the Batrachians with two early cas and the Skaven blitzer Ripgutz the Avenger being neutralized by the the Slann Krox, Byan 'Splattum' Mattumson (who really, has done very little splatting this season!)

Ulitmately however, following those two early cas the frogs just couldn't get enough rats off the pitch to get numbers and the game came down to two critical plays.

The first...a double skull ate an early rr then Trell turned over on a failed 3d blitz by rolling 3 Skull/ Both Down dice before the Slann had reformed their cage. The Skaven ball-removal specialist Slush managed to wrestle Hushyomutha to the ground and the ball bounced right to a gutter. Another dbl skull ate a rr allowing Kruger only one 3d shot at the gutter and he could only manage a push. Said gutter than dodged out of Pall's tacklezone (5+, no rr, which those damn gutters managed to do THREE times this game! Grrrr!) and raced downfield for the score.

The second critical play...tied 2-2 on T14 Pall 'Freddy' Kruger had a 2d shot at the gutter with the ball only to reroll two pushes into a turnover.

In watching the replay I was stunned to see how many times my players turned over on 2d blocks vs. how many times those skaven got away with 1d blocks and 5+ dodges and the like. Although Stinky was 'complaining' :D early about the dice, I feel like I coulda had this one with a bit more even luck.

And another thing...those freaking gutters are invulnerable!! Didn't matter how many times I knocked those little buggers down the just popped right back up! Grrrr! Doctor Magnus finally managed to hurt himself on a failed dodge (the only one of the game seems like).

The Batrachians look forward to a rematch with the Mutants in the playoffs.

#2 Doctor Magnus – Fractured Skull (-AV)
#16 Hammerhead – Serious Concussion (-AV)
This was a match I, probably, didn't deserve to win.

I have a philosophy about coaching in Blood Bowl that goes like this: Sometimes you just have to roll dice and see what happens. Often I find myself over thinking moves and positioning to the point of excess. Not to say that's a bad idea. But sometimes I will play against someone how obviously doesn't give a f@#k about positioning, 1d blocks, cageing, stalling or odds in general...and I will lose to them even though I have (in my mind)planned and positioned better than them.

In this match, I was 'that guy' I just went after the ball, ran down the field not paying attention to the Diving Tackle guy or anything else really. I had a Thrower pick up the ball (I think he might have dodged in his move at some point) sling it to a Gutter Runner in the endzone, risking an INT attempt and scored! When I am in my over-analyzing mode of coaching I probably wouldn't even tried this...

So I guess I put it all on the line, took some risks without caring about the consequences and it paid off for me. Sigmar is a great coach and if I had try to beat him with strategery I woulda probably lost. N00b luck wins!
