#11 Spider – Fractured Leg (MNG) #17 Richard Grottystone – Damaged Back (NI)
“Was a fun game but third in a row for the Warriors were we feel we deserved more. The Pact received and went up to halfway. We continually harangued their cage but just couldn't quite get the breakthrough. They were getting a few too many pows and casualties for our liking though we did inflict two through Blitzers attacking cageing corners. In turn 7 Deollyn made a break for it. Ajax had a great chance to take him down but cruelly was felled in his poor attempt to dodge away. Pact scored. Second half we went up the flank and Vermin took the td as the Pact couldn't get enough players to cover. Next drive the Pact were a player up and took another cas straightaway. After that we harangued them again and surprisingly a handoff was done to the Pacts S4 marauder who ran off but was swamped by 3 of our players and taken down. As more of our players were taken out we took the ball back up with a slim chance to score but our call carrier was also smashed down. Their clawpomber was very effective. In the end Mercy picked up but fate was cruel once more as she was blitzed down and the Pact did a pickup and passing move same turn to win.”
“Indeed, that was a very bloody match. While our team captain, the dark elf renegade was away (we suppose that he pretended to be MNG while he just didn't want to face other dark elves that would probably have been very harsh on him), our killer ClawPOMB looked a bit like cheating at a so low TV.
Nevertheless, darkies defended very well in first half, the first score only being granted by our two statincreased-marauders : the +AG to take the ball away, the +ST to mislead an enemy and take him out at the crucial point.
In second half we forced the darkies to score fast. Turn 3 it was 1-1. Outnumbering is always good for that :)
Then, darkies once more defended very well, and seeing the turn counter advancing, we sent our ST4 trying to make a turn 6 score. But that was slightly optimistic, darkies do know how to roll 2+, the guy was stunned and the ball loose. Being beaten was not a great risk since claws were removing roughly one guy per turn, but winning was a fading idea. AG4 marauder still wanted to show his elf abilities, so he went close to the ball and... on last turn, we managed to recover the ball and make a short pass, even keeping safe our last RR.
Fans were cheering everywhere, the match was won, but clearly, not particularly because of our good coaching. Grats garyt1 for having made it hard even with a near-rookie team (facing my 26-matches pact), good luck with the elves.
