“WIL Season XXIII

After 7 seasons with Cold Hands, Dead Eyes, it's time for something new in WIL, with my brand new underworld. Our first game sees up against almost identical TV humies.

We receive and score a KO but take a linerat BH on their first block dice in return. It's pouring rain so takes us a couple of turns to secure the ball before pushing forward slowly with it behind our troll and rats. The humans are defending warily, not engaging us too heavily. We target their -AV blitzer, managing to BH him on T4, though also give them a chance on the ball with a troll-stupid plus gobbo dodge fail combo.

They blitz through to knock it free and steal it with their thrower.. but fortunately we can 2d blitz back before they can make him safe. But we can't recover the ball and they swarm in, putting 5 players around it (to our two) - looks like it's going to be a human TD here!

We can't stop them scoring so we go to town on what players we do have outnumbered on the other side, scoring another blitzer BH, before they make it 1-0 at the half time whistle.

We are kicking but have 11 players thanks to our 2 subs (and good KO recoveries) while they are down to 8. Block #2 and a gobbo is KILLED - at least it wasn't something more expensive! But the rain is helping us - they fail the pickup on T1 and we can swarm players in around the ball on T2. Their T2 and a lineman trying to hit a gobbo 1st block can only give them a turnover and we can consolidate around the ball - though also fail to pick it up. T3 and we KILL their catcher with a storm vermin and finally get the ball - we're now in range of the endzone! T4 and we make it 1-1 with 4 turns left on the clock each.

2/2 KOs wake up on both sides so we have 11 vs their 8 again, and quickly score a KO while putting pressure on their ball carrier with our extra players. T7 and they BH a gobbo but are feeling the danger here with their players tied up and ours pushing on their ball carrier. They go for the punt and get the ball about half way into our half.. we can GFI with a thrower and make the pickup in the rain, while putting a couple of players in range of the endzone. They MB-blitz the gobbo for a BH, but we've still got our 2nd thrower in range..

Three 2d blocks and he's clearly in range of the endzone... still have to make that 3+ pass and a 4+ catch... but our thrower fumbles the throw!!
