Hear ye, hear ye, hear the heroic exploits of the bloodbowlers in the epic Warpstone Qualifier match between the Undead Harry’s Revenge and the Orc Morglum’s Mauraders!

Morglum’s Mauraders, an old team with a well developed history, came in favored to defeat Harry’s scrappy young band. To encourage Harry’s band to fight, the tournament organizers provided them with a team wizard, and convinced Setekh and the notorious Count Luthor Von Drekenborg to join the Undead ranks. The Risen Wizards started out strong against the green tide, with Voldemort smashing the troll’s back (regenerated). Cedric Diggory handed the ball off to the Count, protecting it from the leaping Orc Wardancer Bogradd. Bathilda Bagshot did her dirty work against the orcs, stunning and then knocking out the black troll Margrogg and Bogradd. When the Marauders overcommitted to the bottom of the pitch, the Count handed the ball off to Sirius, who executed the reversal to perfection and ran in for the score.

The orcs received the ball with 3 turns left in the first half and attempted a goblin tossin’ ott, but a good kick and a blitz put that option out of reach. The Undead squished the goblin ball carrier but were unable to recover the ball. They caught a lucky break when Sogrodd, the Orc’s Ag4 Blitzer, smashed his hip attempting to block a zombie, and so went into the half up 1-0.

A pair of rocks thrown by a rowdy crowd at the beginning of the 2nd half took Setekh and a Black Orc off the board, while the Orc’s Blitzer Neksnappa took out Sirius. The orcs went for the quick score, passing at the bottom of the second, only to have the pass dropped in the endzone by Necksnappa! He quickly recovered and scored. This left the Undead with 6 turns left in the second half to grind out a game winning score. However, the Marauders quickly gained a man advantage, with Bathilda being thrown out on a foul and Setekh earning a smashed hand. The Orc Wardancer then showed his worth, leaping over the undead line and hitting the pow on the one dice block to loose the ball from Dobby’s hands. The ball bounced to the mummy Voldemort, who caught it! The troll Plonki took his vengeance for his earlier back injury by badly hurting the mummy Dumbledore, and double skulls on an undead block the very next turn allowed him to block his way next to Voldemort, with Bulg Legcrusha delivering the blow that knocked the ball from the mummy’s hands! The Orc wardancer recovered and was off for the sidelines when out from the stands whizzed a lightning bolt! Bogradd was shocked (literally) and unable to continue play. The lovable ghoul Dobby recovered the ball, preventing the defensive touchdown and the game was off to overtime!

Harry’s Revenge won the coin toss and elected to receive, but the first several turns of overtime were all about Plonki the troll, who, after being really stupid for the last three turns of regulation play, went on a blitzing spree, knocking three Risen Wizards out of the game, including the Baron, who was carrying the ball at the time! With no wizard to bail the Undead out this time, it looked like the game was in the bag for the Marauders – until the orc ball carrier tripped on a GFI and lost the ball! The Undead recovered and raced into the endzone on the other side of the field, securing the win and earning their place in the third round of the Warpstone Open Qualifier!

#2 Sogrodd Stunty-Flayer – Smashed Hip (-MA)
Smashing game comment :)

Thanks for the game again. Worthy opponent :)

And remember, always check if you have any RRs left, I didn't (burnt it in the beginning of the round on Plonki, I think), an that was the case in that failed GFI :)

Best luck in next round.

PS: I was sure having 15 guys would be a massive overkill. Started OT with 9 players on the pitch!
