“Both teams fought through 4 rounds to make the 11th final of the MCCC Open. The Fists had beaten Crazy Nuns Who Run (3-1), Hells Cannons (3-0), Mangey Dogs (2-0) and Santos Helpers (2-0); whilst the Hammers had a more rocky road, playing Zed Dead (1-1), Hells Bells (beaten on the new spp rule), All Star Sneaky Gits (3-0), and in the semi finals High Monarch of the Glen (0-2).

The final was a replay of the 15th Spuds Bowl final - 6 seasons previously - in which the Fists won. It also pitted the league's top two players in history against one another: the goblin Toniolo Miggi versus the dwarf Farrik Godsnugget.

But despite the hype, the game was a non-starter. The Fists controlled the play, allowing Grunson Nantor to score to take the lead. And although they suffered the greater injuries, Toniolo Miggi was able to race around the field before recieving a well aimed pass to grab the second and finishing touch down.

The win was celebrated by the Fists as a return to winning ways, after seasons in the cold watching other teams pick up the prizes. For the Hammers, it confirmed wide held suspicions about the team's ability to perform against the top teams: making it 4 final defeats since their Wiggum win all the way back in Season 6.”
