#9 Collinear Hoe (IV) – Broken Jaw (MNG)
#12 Barrow – Broken Neck (-AG)
Crown Of Sand III Qualifier V (Dwarves, Lizards and Zons)
round 1

Typical dwarf-v-dwarf game (which I enjoy), both teams had a Death Roller and they did have some impact albeit minimal. The rumble-mobile made more break tackles than The Woodchipper (thanks for eating a reroll in T7, woodie), but we were still able to stop the 1st half score (or rather, back-to-back failed gfis stopped it for us). 2nd half we were up a player and kept that advantage the entire half. Both teams suffered CAS and KOs as the game went on. Pile-driver caught the 2nd half kick off, but bad positioning by me lost the ball. We got it back and Pile-driver even caught the bounce. But I looked at the clock and realized there was no way he could score so I set up Rake, the tool TD machine, for a handoff and it worked. I risked making the handoff in T8 instead of T7 but it paid off. Last kickoff I opted to stack the line instead of just throwing 3 goats up there (mainly because I didn't have 3 goats so I put my 2 goats on the outside of a 6 man LOS. The Stand Firm kept the rumblers from getting a 2 die block on Maul, but Barrow paid a heavy price. Now he will miss a game and has -AG to go with his -MA and niggle. Normally I'd keep him as -AG isn't a career-ender for a Longbeard, but I'll be missing 2 players in my next game and it might just be time to retire him and hire a replacement Blocker. Hmmm... I'll decide later.

This is now the 3rd Major I've managed to get out of the 1st round in. Let's see if I can get out of the 2nd round (that would be breaking new ground). I'm up against some very tough Lizards that I'll need to scout out.

Thanks for the game, Jatte. It was fun and hard-hitting. Glad I could eek out a victory. Good luck to you and your team, and hope to catch you for a rematch sometime.

Update: After much deliberation (and not a fair amount of angsting), I have decided that I will keep Barrow but will be retiring The Woodchipper. I have enjoyed the services of a Deathroller for casual play, and may very well buy one again at a later date. But the sheer cost (160K) for a player that rarely lasts beyond a single drive is too much. Facing Lizardmen as my next opponent, I really don't want to hand that coach a free Wizard. So Barrow will sit out a game and we'll get a new Longbeard to replace The Woodchipper. The fans thank you for your 9 games of support, 21 Blocks, 6 fouls, 2 CAS and 1 VP. 9 SPP for 9 games \o/
