The Havenstreet Homeboys continued their rampant run of form, having conceeded just 1 touchdown in their last 6 game, while scoring 20 of their own.
With this match, they take the WIBBL Cup to add to their trophy cabinet.
The Homeboys won the toss, and elected to kick first on a perfect day for blood bowl, although there were a few clouds in the sky.
However, just as the precise, short kick went up to start the match, the clouds came over rapidly, and a rain shower ensued, leaving the ball utterly soaking and even harder to pick up than usual.
St Lawrence's Forsaken proceeded to give the homeboys line of scrimmage as heavy a pounding as they could (not very much at all, at this stage), before new horizon fumbled the wet ball.
The homeboys had no qualms about imediatly taking the opportunity to put one over the forsaken, as they were well aware of the difficulty of getting the ball off anyone with blodge sure hands with no tackle and limited wrestle. they promptly put a nice secure screen up infront of the intended ball carrier, before Sahlecn strolled into the midst of the horde, gathered the ball and, in spite of the ghoul just behind him as he turned to throw, threw it over to Artaan, who caught it cleanly, and almost before the Forsaken could react, the Homeboys had put themselves 1-0 up.
The Homeboys made it clear that this was the way they intended to play all game, as they kicked short again. A safe, secure gather left the Homeboys with a fair amount of work to do if they wanted to maintain their lead.
The Forsaken kept pushing up the pitch, always looking to drive forwards where they could, although never without support. In return, the Homeboys kept harying the ball carrier, looking for as many opportunities as possible to try and tackle him.
As the last couple of turns approached, new horizon ran off with just are you my friend :D for assistance. Homeboys promptly flooded the surroundings, caging around new horizon, with both guarders, to ensure that, although they failed to drop him that turn, it would be at least a 2 db against to escape.
The -2 db was made, and survived, but the dodges that followed were not, leaving the homeboys with one reasonably well covered player in range to score, and a loose ball.
Who were they to refuse such a challenge?
They were well capable as well, succeeding in the pickup, hand over, pass, catch sequence without needing a single re-roll, skill or otherwise. And once Sahlecn had a hold of the ball, he proceeded to disappear off to the other end of the pitch and score without hesitation to make it 2-0 at half time.
The 8 elves left on the pitch (3 of them were being lazy in the KO box) now took to the pitch to receive for the first (and, they hoped, the only) time in the match.
The ball, kicked deep, was secured easily, and a gap opened up to let Ahidracc and Artaan through, deep into the Forsaken's half.
Left open, and with plenty of ways to create space in the centre of the pitch, the homeboys swept the ball forward to score from the centre of their half in a single move.
Another short kick from Alrerh left the ball and it's carrier open to harassment from blodging side steppers again. After a couple of turns Analadunr managed to get a knock down blow on new horizon. Despite this, the ball remained in the hands of the Forsaken, as, despite the rain and a pair of annoying elves, town mayor managed to catch the ball. He didn't manage to get it very far, and the Homeboys proceeded to put him on the floor at the first opportunity, gathering and protecting the ball into the bargin.
Despite the best efforts of the Forsaken of St Lawrence, they were unable to prevent Nelicgiob getting free and passing the ball to Artaan to run in his 3rd touchdown of the game.
With time getting very limited (just 2 turns left for the Forsaken), the Forsaken basically conceeded that they were not going to score, and the Homeboys managed to get a bonus out of the game by bringing Ahidracc up to within an MVP of his next skill with a simple, quick pass before the ref called time on the game.
The fans promptly proceeded to vote Ahidracc as their MVP for the game!
In the end, the game was a bit one-sided, as the homeboys continued their rampant run.
However, there were numerous 'if only' points, where, a failure on any of the sequence of dice I was rolling would have left me pretty open. Indeed, with the exception of a single, non-critical double skulls on the first turn, I don't think I conceded a turn over once.
Or, if it hadn't started raining basically the instant the match started, maybe the opening score, which really set the tone for the game, wouldn't have happened, however it did, and so the tone was set.
Gibby made the best of the situation, although, if it weren't for that dratted sure hands ghoul, the result quite possibly could have been more one-sided.

So, the Homeboys complete the double, winning both the WIBBL Premiership and the WIBBL Cup in a single season!”
