Another OT game for me, but I pulled out the win. Hito and I both thought that we each coached badly but the other guy coached well. Go figure. I certainly won the CAS battle, and that was almost certainly the deciding factor. I had a chance to score in T8 of the 1st half, but Hito did an outstanding job of putting a Diving Tackle skink on my Blodge runner. With no rerolls and a 1 die blitz, I decided to try and block one of my guard blitzers free to lend an assist. Double skulls. Well, scored in the 2nd half and dished out some pain. Winning the coin toss probably sealed it for me, but Hito never gave up and got a deep kick so he pressured the ball. But once I removed the last 2 skinks, I just had to avoid any crazy 6+ antics. Hito obliged by not rolling any 6s. He also taught me Malmir's rule: If the other guy is going to advance, make him pay for it. The turn before I could score without a gfi, I just moved all my players to cover prone players but did not make a foul. Hito stood up a Saurus and blitzed one of my slayers. He needed a gfi and made that but only rolled pushed. The slayer returned the favor and got a BH :) That's a good rule, thanks for teaching it to me. I'll try to remember it in future games.

As always, a fun game and a rare win for me against a great coach. I'll savor it (but not too long, have more games to prep for). Good crowd too. Good money for us both. I gained and Hito lost FF, but that was probably inevitable for whoever lost as we were both double digit FF.

Now, let's see my skill-ups....

Update: Skills were normal on the Slayer (Piling On) and +MA and Maul the ST5 Blitzer \o/

Also realized later that the Saurus my dorfs killed, N'kakthss, was purchased newly for this game. Hito wisely fired a mng Saurus to make room, because otherwise he would only have gotten 80k in inducements.”
