“Brutal Crimson took on one of the league’s top teams – Claws of the Night - in an exciting and close game. Crimson kicked to the undead and got off to a terrible start; within the first three turns a hobgoblin was maimed by one of the Claws werewolves, a chaos dwarf was killed (although saved by the apothecary!) and star player Nobbla Blackwort tripped and cut himself to pieces on his own chainsaw! The casualties took their toll on the Crimson defence, with more losses coming on as the half wore on, including a vital Chaos Dwarf too badly hurt to continue. Crimson were steadily pushed back by a well organised drive, and heroic efforts from the two Bulls could only delay the Claws, not stop them! A quick break from one of the werewolves led to a turn 7 TD.

Second half, Crimson received and started a drive upfield. Slow but steady progress brought Crimson ever closer to the Claws endzone, but aggressive blitzing from the Claws star werewolf sacked the ball carrier. Thundering hooves signalled a blitz from a Bull that put the werewolf down – but not hard enough! A hobgoblin dashed in to snatch the ball and the bulls and a chaos dwarf moved to cover him. But their efforts were for nothing - some skilful dodging around the widezones brought the werewolf back around for a second ball carrier sack, this time so violently that the poor Hobgoblin had to be rushed to the hospital! Both sides battled hard for control of the ball but it was the Claws who emerged with it and for a few moments it looked like there would be a sensational breakaway touchdown to make it 2 – 0, but the werewolf ball carrier tripped over his own tail on a go for it and stunned himself! A last gasp long bomb passing play by Crimson for the equaliser misfired when the hobgoblin ball carrier fell flat on his face before he even had a chance to throw the ball!

The game ended 1 – 0 and for once Coach Katana was proud of his team even in defeat. It was a close game filled with tension & excitement!
