The first game of the cup was a lower league qualifier to get through to the main cup competition. Expectation was high from the Killmaul fans after the great work Garion did with Pact Ick Pizzle but the team weren't feeling as confident after studying the superiority of their opponent's team. The mood did change for the better when coach Garion used his old connections and secured a wizard and Ugroth for the game and when the Pact team got the chance to receive first they were rubbing their fists ready to inflict some serious pain.
The game started well for Killmaul and within a few turns they KO'd 2 players seriously injured a Ghoul and a Badly Hurt a zombie. This made the rest of the half a walk over, or it should have been, but Ugroth twice tried to foul a Ghoul with his chainsaw and both times it kicked back, the first time just stunning him, the second time it kicked back right into his face! He was dead, and then resurected as a zombie and carted off in to the Undead teams reserve box. He also left the ball carrier exposed with his inability to chainsaw the stunned Ghoul, fortunately the other standing Ghoul could not manage to reach the Dark Elf ball carrier who finally had an easy job and strolled in to the end zone.
Things were looking good leading up to half time but the Pact team still had to kick and see out the remainder of the half. With only seconds left on the clock the Undead team turned to playing dirty, Knocking out a marauder with a Mummy then fouling another. When the second half started the numbers had switched around and the Pact team were now down to 9 men and the Undead team up to 10. Fortunately Ugroth the zombie couldn't find his chainsaw after being resurected, much to the relief of Killmaul.
The second half started well for the Undead team, first seriously injuring another Marauder within seconds of the restart and then Ko'ing another a few seconds later. The Undead hordes quickly made a line for the end zone but Killmaul had one trick left up their sleave and their wizard fired a lightning bolt straight at the Wight carrying the ball stunning him. The Wight was hugging the side line but the ball just stayed in play. The Ogre Denis Wise sensed an opportunity and blitzed the Mummy out the way that was protecting the ball and Teddy Sheringham the Dark Elf pounced on the loose ball and ran down field. He was almost safe when his Minotaur team mate completely failed to take out an oncoming Ghoul, the Minotaur tripped and fell over letting the Ghoul get a Blitz in against Teddy. Fortunatly Fash the Goblin was altert and he grabbed the loose ball before the Undead hordes knew what was happening and ran down field. With no protection left the Goblin held on for dear life until he was deep in the opponents half. In the final moments of the match a zombie managed to sack the ball carrier but the Goblin was too slippery and he bounced back up grabbed the ball and dashed in to the end zone.
2-0 to Killmaul and a great start for the only Pact team in the league.”
