“The 145 Rookie League got off to a violent start tonight as the Orcs of Thug Life took on the Chaos of Jury of Peers. From the opening whistle, both sides put strength on the line of scrimmage and it was clear that this was not going to be a game for the purists!

Jury received and formed a pocket close to the line of scrimmage. Thug Life were trying to break their way in when Jury surprised the Thugs with that rarest of things – a Chaos passing play! The pass was inch perfect and a beastman burst down the wide zone! However he ran out of breath just short of the endzone, allowing an Orc blitzer to sprint back and tackle him down. The ball bounced in the end zone but it was Thug Life who recovered. There then followed what Orcs do best – a methodical, violent advance down the pitch. Jury and Thugs exchanged kicks and punches every step of the way, but ultimately the cage got through for a last turn score.

Second half Thug Life received and sent a pocket moving down the wide zones. Hard hits followed as the pocket moved forward. A devastating hit from 50 Cent left a beastman down and out with a shattered hip, while a crushing uppercut from TuPac fractured the skull of another. Jury fought back, and Snoop Dogg was driven into the turf with such force that he spent the rest of the match unconscious! But all the brawling could not stop Thug Life from running in a second touch down late in the second half.

A riot added fresh time to the clock, but at 2 – 0 Jury knew they had to take risks. They looked for a fast wide zone break with a passing play, but with no re-rolls left the risks were too great and Jury were left with a gap in defence. The beastman ball carrier was sacked, an Orc blitzer retrieved the ball – he in turn was sacked short of the end zone, but bounced back up, dropped his beastman marker with a hard hit, retrieved the ball, ran for the TD – and tripped on his last go for it! The game thus ended 2 – 0 to Thug Life.
