Warpstone Open VII - FINAL

We went all or nothing. Fired a lineman and got a wizard.

1st Half
Squadron defending. Threw the wizard and went all or nothing. Finally we scored getting 1-0 and looking nice but 2nd half was going to be very different.

2nd Half
Squadron attacking. Kick off result was Blitz. Our star was removed from the pitch and we found ourselves surrounded by dwarves, and specially annoying DT ones.

While our numbers were going down we managed to get the ball to Clive with a week screen. John went in with a dodge and 2 GFI's, got a pow, broke Clive's armor and got the scatter in his hands sealing the game fate. (1-1)

OT
Ball for the dwarves with only 7 elves on the pitch. Dwarves removed 4 guys in 1st turn. 1-2 Game over!

We did our best and had our chance.

Grats on the win Azure

The Warpstone Open VII Finals - Final Round (Round 8 overall)

The best way to describe the game was that it was a great game - fun to watch and fun to play. Easily could have gone either way - the High Elves did an awesome job of pushing the envelope, not being afraid of failure, and it worked very well. My hat is off to anisdrin - he analyzed the game and used the right strategy to make this a very tight game.

The first half we received and an early wizard sent the ball tumbling - our blitzer with grab was key to clear the SS away from the ball...but we gave up the 1d blitz and then our DT failed to trip up the thrower - it was exciting back and forth, until we were left with only 1 option: blitzing with John Litte on his blodger...pushes on the 2d, RRed into double skulls! That was that for the first half as the elves stalled some and it was 0-1 at the half.

Second half, we tried a close kick (had kick skill) - the kick landed on the sidelines and we were awarded a blitz on the kickoff roll. We raced forward - could not reach the ball, but applied a lot of pressure and KOed a key player. After DT had failed the first half...now it came through - tripping a player on turn 1 and turn 2 - in addition, our grab blitzer enabled us to surf a player as well...all the sudden the elves were few in number...and again we were down to 1 option, a 2d blitz by John Little again, a dodge and 2 GFIs, had to use RR, but worked and got a POW on the blitz to send the catcher down...but more - a KO and ball bounced to John. We stalled out the half and it was 1-1.

In overtime, it was 9 vs 7 and we received. Four elves were removed on turn 1 - and that was game...even with a -2d double pow, the elves just did not have the players and John recovered the ball and walked it in for the win 2-1.

A great tournament - thanks to all the specs and my opponent for a fun atmosphere and fun times!
