“The Warlords travelled to Dark Elf country for their third game of the Rookie League. After the slugfest with Jury of Peers, the Warlords were looking forward to facing some squishy opponents. Unfortunately the Dark Elves hadn’t read the script and the first block of the game put a beastman into the KO box (he never recovered!). This woke the Warlords up from their daydreams and a fast and crazy half of action followed. A sacrificial beastman blitz was able to sack the Dark Elf ball carrier, but the loose ball was recovered by Shadoweaters and play was switched to the opposite side with an inch perfect pass. It looked like the perfect breakaway, until the ball carrier tripped on a Go For It! A wild scramble ensued which somehow ended with the Warlords getting hold of the ball, forming a untidy pocket, and rushing to the Shadoweaters end zone for a last turn TD!
Second half, the Warlords received and tried to push a pocket out wide. The Shadoweaters proved tenacious in defence, surfing out two beastmen (who landed amongst the Chaos fans, thankfully!) and sacking the ball carrier in short order. Down on numbers and short on finesse, the Warlords looked lost as the Shadoweaters proceeded to dodge around them as if they were statues, retrieving the ball and setting up a slick passing play that left a Dark Elf just three squares from the endzone. A desperate long range blitz from a beastman put the ball carrier down – but it was a temporary reprieve! An Elf blitzer retrieved the ball from under the nose of the dozy beast, dodged away, and went to throw a simple 3+ pass for an almost certain touchdown – but incredibly he fumbled the ball! This allowed the Warlords to retrieve it, but the Dark Elves recovered quickly and the ball carrier had to eat a two dice block – but the result was double skulls! The Chaos fans breathed a sigh of relief as their team was able to run down the remaining seconds of the clock.

An error strewn but very enjoyable game!
