Speed Skills won the coin toss and chose to receive. Karril caught the attention of Coach Diced from the openning bell and sent his team after him. Anthony Carnas was caught by the Ref as he kicked the downed Blitzer. Master Tang hung back with the ball waiting for the outcome of the battle in the trenches. Linerat, Fred, in a very un-rat like behavior put himself at risk to prevent a gang foul on Karril. However, despite all Fred's efforts, the dangerous Blitzer took a blow to the head knocking him out. Fortunately, this opened up the right side of the field and Master Tang made his move. A short pass to Maus had the Gutter Runner off to the races for a score midway through the first half.

ST received with plenty of time on the clock. Mjr Tossa waited a few moments with the ball and found Pvt Ed Ciccola open for a reception. The Catcher sped up the right side of the field. Everything looked good until he tried to go a few more yards. He stumbled and dropped the ball stunning himself. Puck saw the ball bounce near the sidelines and immediately went after it. In his eagerness to recover the ball, he lost sight of the High Elf guarding him. Needless to say the Runner was tripped up giving ST another chance at the touchdown. It was not to be as they just could not get over the hump as time expired in the first half.

ST received in the second half but SS kicked the ball relatively close to the line of scrimmage. A High Elf Lineman tried to go one on one with Fred but he wasn't able to bring him down resulting in a premature turnover before the ball was even secured. SS quickly surrounded the ball and Maus picked it up. He would speed up the field and hand it off to Master Tang who waited in the end zone to put his team up by two.

ST received for the last time and Pvt Ed Ciccola had a chance to redeem himself as he caught his second pass of the game. Once again, he ran up the right side of the field threatning to score on the next turn. Puck also had a chance for redemption as he was nearby to make a play on the ballcarrier. The Wishmaster knew Puck was having a bad game when the Gutter Runner was taken down instead. However, Puck may have rattled Pvt Ed Ciccola just enough that the Catcher failed to make an easy dodge to the chagrin of his Coach. SS would recover the ball ending ST's chances of scoring before the game ended.

Top summary !

Ski Troop's version of events would involve quite a few more rude words, aimlessly directed variously at my own team, the dice, the stuff kids listen to on the radio these days, clawbombers, the global financial system and the rising cost of decent underpants. Pretty much anything to avoid a mention of the flawed tactical decisions made on my behalf in which we decided to try to remove Karril from the game when in fact it was Fred who was the monster rat for the fixture.

Fred deserves a special mention. He made Ski Troop lose their cool early, and often. BB is a mind game, and Fred's performance was a psychological weapon of mass destruction. He demands a UN inspection. That rat simply could not be dropped. I think he wore about 500 block dice and they were all push or skull. And somehow on almost all of them it really mattered to me that he was grounded.
