The fans roared and cheered as their idols made their way out onto the astrogranite, the Shards Screamers, cheerleaders, whipped them into a frenzy giving the Shards the impetus to charge into the frey. The blitz on the kick off allowed the Shards to reposition and put some early pressure on the rats. The rats responded by koing the Shards assasin who would remain missing for the rest of the game. Enraged by the sight of their fallen comrade the Shards tore into the rats seriously injuring two line rats and koing a third in response. Realising the tide was against them the rats ran in a quick score.
The Shards received and swifty drove down a flank only for Sar skrc ning to tear into their runner intercepting his attempted dump off and pushing the runner into, fortunatly a friendly, section of the crowd. The Shards blitzer sprinted forwards smashing into the rat ogre knocking the ball free and injuring the behemoth only for the rats apo to step in and patch him up. Despite a last ditch attempt by the rats star GR the Shards ended the half drawing level.
Half time ensued and the Shards babe was unable to revive the ko'd team members, later complaining that the beer had been spiked with warpstone!
The Shards received and drove down their right flank, again the rat ogre tore into the ball carrier but failed in his attempt to mark the dumpee. The dark elves sensed that the day was theirs and switched flanks only to lose the ball to some desperate defending from the speedy gutter runners. The Helena High star GR attempted to punt the ball deep into the Shards half but was distracted by a passing gyrocopter and dropped the ball. With the 2nd half drawing to a close the Shards retreived the ball and took the lead for the first time. In typical rat style the Helena Highs made short shrift of that and equalised to take the game into overtime.
What happened next is still unclear, some say that the referee was shown pictures of his family and friends and "advised" what might become of them! Others say that a dark cloud from the north stole across the stadium and obscured the view of the coin toss. Whatever the reason the Shards where elected to receive and swept down a flank again.Insensed the rats tore into the dark elf screen but where unable to prevent them dodging through their line to take the winning score.
