#15 Thara – Groin Strain (MNG)
“Seemingly eons ago, Coach Kondor had set a goal to beat Emeyin on the Blood bowl pitch. "Today" he thought, "today would be the day he started evening the score." "I will no longer be a bye week for Emeyin."
The game started off shaky. Kondor had every intention of sending Shaggy up the North side of the field. He just had to maintain some semblance of control. The norse armor would start breaking, then he could find a hole to run through. The Wishmaster had different plans.
They had a pair of heavy hitting blitzers. Ones who were good tacklers and not afraid to pile on the pain. Grant started the dirty fighting by knocking Scooby out in the opening minutes. Dressed as a mummy, he thought that big hairy dude would be scared and leave him alone. Scooby left the game badly hurt, and whimpering. He never came back.
Shaggy saw his pal leave, and did not want the ball anymore. It seemed all these scary eyes were looking just at him. Rushing over to Daphne, he shouted "Take this thing. There are some Creeepy dudes around here." Daphne looked around, got scared, and ran as far away from the crowd as she possibly could. She did no think there any way they could catch her way down there.
The norsemen immediately recognized the error and sent everyone after her. She however, was not about to let those ugly old men have their way with her, let alone mess up her hair, so she pushed one out of the way and ran in for the score.
Now Kondor knew things were going to get ugly so he talked to Fred before kicking off. Fred knew it was going to be up to him to keep FGB from scoring. When Tarrant failed to pick up the ball, he saw his chance and made a break for it. He was well marked and it took some heroic effort, but he dodged away from a tackler and blitzed the ball carrier one on one. After a second effort it came loose so he picked it up. Legs tired and muscles aching he pushed. One more step...."Is that a banana peel?...too late he crashed in the endzone.
Kondor could not believe it. That score wold have at least guaranteed a draw. Instead most of his team was on the bench, and Tarrant completed the long pass. As time expired, FGB equalized.
The second half was a demonstration of what happens when your armor is tampered with. Mystery Inc started with one player more than FGB wnd hopes of retrieving the ball for the go ahead score. Within three blocks, they were outmanned and fighting for a draw. A couple turns later and there were only five undead players on the field. Fred did try to pay Grant back for what he did to Scooby with a sneaky little foul but really the game was about over. The foul was more self defense against a player that could jump up and get you at any moment.
The last quarter of the game was rather anti-climatic as FGB secured the win.
"Curses" thought Kondor. That is one bad guy that got away with it. No unmasking of the villain today.

Mystery Inc won the coin toss and chose to receive. Their Mummy, Scooby Doo, charged the Fight Gone Bad defense and the challenge was met by the Superstar, Grant the Great. Grant would devastate Scooby with a vicious two handed chop that badly hurt the Undead player. That victory energized the Norse defense and they all began to hit like Ogres. Seph would drop the "Norseman's Elbow" on a poor Ghoul and badly hurt him. Unfortunately the Referee caught him in the act and threw him out of the game.
The battle at the lines was going south in a hurry so the Ghoul ballcarrier faked going up the left side then swung the ball to the right. A hand off to the Rookie Ghoul, Daphne, and she was off to the races. FGB fell for the fake and Daphne scored midway through the first half.
There was plenty of time for FGB to put together a drive and after a failed ball pickup, Tarrant finally got a hold of it. Fred sacked him in the backfield and almost came away with a touchdown but he slipped as he was about to cross the end zone. That would have put FGB away but instead they still have a chance. Surrel ran over to grab the ball and he threw a long pass up the field to Tarrant. The ball was inaccurate but the Runner was able to hold on. Tarrant sped up the right side of the field to tie the game at end of the first half.
FGB received in the second half but they were down to ten players against eleven. Grant didn't like those odds so he picked up Thara and slammed the Zombie to the ground. Thara landed awkwardly and strained her groin muscles. She wasn't as flexible as she used to be in life. Lance and Konan knocked out their respective Zombies on the next two blocks and all of a sudden FGB was the one up by one player. Coach Kondor was in disbelief at the fury of the Norse.
Tarrant picked up the ball and he ran up to his blockers for some cover. Now with the numbers advantage, FGB, took control of the match and overwhelmed what was remaining of the Undead forces. The Undead KO box was so full they had to stack the players to fit them all in there. When Tarrant finally walked into the end zone there was only three MI players left on the field. FGB take the win for now, but they realize there will be a rematch coming in the future.
