“Thug Life attended a charity event prior to the match where they gave away a full set of autographed helmets. Unfortunately, due to an admin error this meant the Orcs had given away the helmets they were due to wear in the match, and thus had to play bareheaded. This would have serious consequences later on!

Thugs received, caged up, and went wide. Brawling on the line of scrimmage was fairly even at first; Dr. Dre put down the Minotaur twice with hard blocks, but Alert Max managed to hurt Jay Z so badly he couldn’t continue. The cage gradually worked its way into the Chaos Dwarf half, being harried along the way by Bull Centaurs. The lack of helmets started to become a serious problem for the Thugs, as RZA and Notorious B.I.G. were both KO’d in fairly short order. However, just when it looked as if the cage was stalled, Snoop Dogg punched a hole in the Alert Max defence, allowing Method Man to run in a late 1st half touchdown.

Alert Max had a spell of play before half time. The kick off dawned with the Thugs short on players, and the ball landed just behind Alert Max’s line of scrimmage. Hard blocking followed and all three Orc LoS players ended up stunned as a result! One of the Bulls ran in to gather the ball, but it got stuck under his hooves and he couldn’t grab it. Next turn, a hobgoblin got hold of it, and attempted to hand it off to the Bull, who dropped it again! The half thus ended with the score 1 – 0 to the Thugs.

Second half kicked off and the absence of helmets was to have fatal consequences for the Thugs. Already short on numbers, the Orcs found themselves being overwhelmed and eating a string of 2 Dice blocks. More of the Thugs were carried away to the casualty box. RZA was spiked down and killed outright by one particularly vicious block, while 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg and GZA were all KO’d. Busta the Troll stepped up to hold the line together but was blitzed by the Minotaur. The frenzied beast pushed Busta backwards and was forced to make a 2-dice Thugs choose block. Both came up as POWs, Busta went down dead from the impact, and failed to regenerate! The only piece of good news for the Orcs was when Dr. Dre was able to land a terrific punch on Alert Max’s superstar Bull, KOing the beast for the rest of the match.

With five players left on the field against an almost full strength Alert Max side, the Thugs were in deep trouble. But Orcs don’t quit, and the survivors showed fighting spirit and refused to give in. The Thugs tried to screen off the hobgoblin ball carrier’s attack routes, and even managed to get a surprise one dice blitz on him from Method Man! (Who unfortunately threw a skull). This defensive work paid off, as it delayed Alert Max to such an extent that they were only able to score very late in the second half.

The game looked certain to remain a draw (a positive for the Thugs who were only able to put 6 players on the field!) but a kick off Blitz from Alert Max suddenly threatened a sensational finish. There followed a comical string of errors. Method Man tried to grab the ball and get to safety, but managed to fail in 3+ pick ups (with Sure Hands) in two consecutive turns! However, Alert Max then suffered a turn over when one of their Chaos Dwarfs failed a go for it and ended up flat on his back.

The match ended 1 -1. The Thugs were left to rue the day they left their helmets behind. Fortunately there were enough pieces of Busta left for a new troll to grow in his place. Hopefully this one won’t be quite as confused.
