#5 Bushwacker – Dead (RIP)
#11 Sgt Slaughter – Dead (RIP)
Both teams took to the field; their team captains carrying their new trophies for all their fans to see. Both the teams were winners of their qualifying groups so expectations were high for both sets of fans and the coaches were eager to get off to a good start in what looks like an extremely tough season ahead.
The Pro Wrestlers kicked first. The Kick was nice and deep in Dog attacks half and out of reach of their Sure Hands Ghoul ball carrier. Dog Attack started in a typical fashion knocking 4 elves to the ground KO’ing the Elf lineman with Guard. Rufus the St4 pooch tried to grab the ball and spilled it, fortunately the ball stayed on the pitch leaving the Elves no chance of stealing the ball in their first turn. But fortunately for the Elves this meant they did not surfer further paint from the foul that was no doubt coming had the ball been picked up.
The Pro Wrestlers then blocked back the aggressive Necro horde freeing their whole team up from tackle-zones. Andre the Giant darted in to the Necro half hoping for a repeat of the poor ball handling that was on display in the opponent moments of the game and Hulk Hogan moved up to support in place to make a quick break away should the opportunity arise.
However Dog Attack were wise to this and quickly surrounded the Elf Blitzer and knocked him to the floor then followed up with an early foul to stun him. Although the Elf was in a precarious position the 7 players around Andre opened up a lot of room for the elves to move around the pitch freely; then came the pick up... and there was no mistake this time. The Ghoul grabbed the ball and moved in to safety while Rufus the super dog moved up field ready to receive a hand off.
The Elves then made their first aggressive move first Ko'ing a zombie protecting the Necro ball carrier and putting a tackle zone on the ball carrier with Big Show the Elf Blitzer. The Elves then tied up another supporting player with Hulk Hogan and knocked a Flesh Golem down, stunning him.
Necro dealt with this threat well and quickly brushed aside the pressing elves forming a side line cage with all 10 of their players round about screening the ball carrier. The fouls kept coming and finally the ref spotted one again the Elf Blitzer was stunned but both teams were now down to 9 men.
The Elves then Badly Hurt a Flesh Golem, but the Golem quickly regenerated. Then Elf team then broke apart the cage and got two tackle-zones on the St4 dog. Though a laps in concentration meant that an elf lineman moved in to a position setting up an easy crowd surf for the Necro team. Fortunately no real harm came from this and the Elves still managed to work an opening to push the st4 pooch off the pitch KO’ing him. The ball was now free and the elves made their move first grabbing the ball and then making a quick pass to score, but a Wight in a tackle-zone intercepted. Then came the moment that handed the Elves the first half. The Wight tried to dodge away from an elf (without RRs left) and failed. This allowed the Elves to grab the ball and run down field. It would have been straight forward but the Thrower tripped when dodging and died and the next turn a misjudged dodge gave the Dogs a slim chance of a blitz on the ball carrier (3+ 2 + 2+) but before they made their move the Necro team tried to free up a zombie and hit Andre who side Stepped into a great position, making the blitz nigh on impossible thanks to his diving tackle ability. The Elves walked the ball in for a half time score of 1-0.

The second half started and the elves were down by 3 players. After a few turns of woeful dodging from the elves Pro Wrestlers made their move, passing the ball down field to Andre the Giant who made the catch and moved in to scoring range. The Elf team just needed one elf lineman to make a dodge to protect the Blitzer from a Blitz but he snaked it, leaving Andre open.
Andre was knocked down but the bounce was favourable and he grabbed the ball and hid behind a few line elves for protection, winding the clock down then scoring late on.
The game was over now and the elves had won, but the Necro team stacked their attack on the LoS hoping to pull one back in their final two turns. The elves caught them flat footed and Blitzed into the Necro half catching their own kick for an easy score in the final turn. A fortunate end to the game for the elves and a flattering score line for what was a very close game.
Next up - the undefeated Skaven.
