“The 22nd Spuds Bowl final: an Orc derby between Spuds Bowl royalty - the Fists -and the newboys on the block - the Norks.

Fists nabbed their final spot by beating another Orc team - Da Ball Chuckaz - 3-0 in the semi finals; whilst the Norks surprised many during the group stages in their first Spuds outing by putting old timers the Breakerz to the sword. The teams had met twice previously: 1-1 in the group stages; and a famous 2-0 win to a young Norks side in the first round of the MCCC Open in S20.

However, the game was never as even as the past implied: the Norks recieved the ball, and their back lineman fumbled picking it up twice (despite 4ag!) and then fumbled a past to a blitzer waiting on the wing. The ball flew back into the centre - thanks to the efforts of the biased Fist crowd - leading to Fist possesion. Whilst the Fists attacked, they started laying into the Nork players, knocking out and breaking teeth.

A Biggum Fist Um touch down, led to a renewed attack from the Fists after the kick-off; with Vendettaz and Co. charging down the wings. The Norks players - shaky and unpredictable - failed to deal with the crisis, leading to the Fist captain's 12 touch down of his career.

During the half-time period the fans went wild for calls to see Miggi on the pitch: MIGGGIII....MIGGGIIIIIII!!! Applause went through the roof when Miggi lined up for the second half. This tiny goblin is the most successful player in Spuds Bowl history: in terms of spps, touch downs and awards. Although fumbling a pass early on, he recovered to set up an attack down the wing, inter-linking with Vendettaz. The Norks main force was consigned to the centre circle, where a mass bunch up ensued. During this time the plucky goblin Miggi scored his 5th of the campaign, and his 56th touch down of his career. 3-0 to the Fists.

But the game was not over. The Norks recovered: stomping on famed troll, Da Da Duh and injuring him in the process; as well as setting up a move down the wing. The Fists appeared confident at blocking out the trouble, before little goblin Snaga - gaining courage from seeing his hero Miggi on the pitch - rolled a needed 6+ to pick up the ball and score a touch down on the final move, making it 3-1.

The touch down was scant consolilation for the Norks; but a final appearance in their very first Spuds Bowl bodes well for the future. The Fists may have won many awards in MVP & Top Scorer (Miggi) and Top Passer (Caghead) categories; but it is to the Hardman award that Lagduf reigned supreme.”
