“This match was one that Kondor privately had concerns about. The Chaos Dwarfs sported a few powerful players that could easily turn a match. However, the Beards had a well rounded team where almost everyone could guard the back of the guy next to him.

In this case the guard won out, but it helped that a couple of early armor rolls went the way of the Beards. Knocking out a rookie hobogobo in the first turn, and then badly hurting one of two dwarfs known to pile on the pain. With a couple of players off the field, the Beards were able to overpower their darker cousins to take a lead into halftime.

The defense of the second half turned out to be too much for the Nordiques. Down a couple of men, the Beards pressed their advantage by rushing in to mix things up. Even the extra strong Gobo was not enough to hold on to the ball. Once it came out, it became an exercise in patience before the beards reached the ball and earned an insurance point to get the victory.
