Match 1 - vs Gargamel y sus pitufos (CD)

It was noon and the sun hung uncommittingly behind hazy skies. Crickets chirped in the green grass, unaware that they were soon to be showered in blood. The fans of Gargamel y sus pitufus were numerous, making sure the audience was on the chaos dwarves' side. Nuffle would see to it that nothing else was this day.

The Crafty Stars took to the pitch, their yellow teeth gritted and their boney fingers twickling with pure apm and the promise of bloodshed, snaring and growling as they positioned themselves at the line of scrimmage.

The match started ordinarily enough as Azrael, the bull centaur, handily picked up the ball while the dwarves pushed over the opposition in the middle of the field, advancing quickly into their oppoents side of the pitch. The counter strike came fiendishly and unsuspected as NaDa the Tornado launched forth planting a fist, barely anything but knuckles, in the face of Filosofo stopping the dwarf in its tracks, totally bypassing its armour. The unnerving crack of bone was followed by several seconds of silence as the audience and players realized what had just happened, but was abruptly broken by the shocked outrage of the dwarves' fans and the cheerful moaning of the undead pros. Some among the audience cried out for the apothecary, but none was anywhere to be seen, and their cries were soon lost in the chanting of the undead's fans who cheered forth a cloaked figure from the stands. As the team necromancer trod down to the field and saw to that Filosofo should once again take to the pitch, Azrael the bull centaur took advantage of the bewilderment and sprinted to the endzone.

Now a touchdown up but a player down, the stout dwarves readied themselves for the onslaught of the undead. The growling masses of putrid flesh and bleached bone swarmed the line ferociously, and though the dwarves did all they could to hold the line, the first of them soon found himself on the pitch, leaving his comrade open to a flank attack. Flash the perfect Weapon were not late to seize the opportunity and delievered a mighty blow that hit right into, and through, the line holders rib cage. A crackle of bone pulverized to dust and the outbursts of the audience hung in the air as the dwarf fell like a rag doll, the spell of life leaving his eyes. Those close enough to see the faces of the remaining dwarves must've been amazed to witness the grim, unfazed determination in the expression of the stubborn halfmen. There would be no backing down, there would be no mercy for the wicked.

The dwarves' demonstration of spirit might have infused the team with bolstering hope, had Jaedong the Tyrant not blitzed out of the line of scrimmage and brutalized Azrael, the hero of the first drive. As the bull centaur was removed from the pitch, badly hurt as he was, the hobgoblins lost composure and the team started falling apart. They watched in terror as their front figure, the minotaur Gargamel, was send to the KO box the match still only a quarter old. The hobgoblin Bromista, proving himself the bravest of his lot, did attempt to blitz down the ball carrying Bisu, but sadly it was all in vain. The undead were fueled by their bloodlust and success, and their fans were running wild with scrupulous joy as GoRush pushed a dwarf into their arms, putting a stop to his participation in the match. Bisu knocked the brave Bromista over and ended the first half with the first touchdown for the Crafty Stars.

The second half saw the undead deliver a tad more punishment, while they played the rest of the match in a somewhat arrogant demeanor, even throwing the ball to Jaedong, the mummy, who proceeded down the field, sprinting. With the ball safely clutched in his boney grip, Gargamel the minotaur who had returned to the field this drive, was the only hope of salvation. The sheer numbers of undead was too much for even this mighty beast however, and he was pinched to the ground by boney hands and rotting flesh, from where he watched helplessly as Jaedong ended the match with a last touchdown for the Crafty Stars, earning himself the MVP of the match. The requime played for Filosofo and Poeta as the dwarves awarded the latter the MVP in honour of his sacrifice, not even considering giving it to Filosofo who now marred them with his unnerving, undead presence at the stadium.

(My thanks to coach Emiliakus for being such a good sport)
