“I've played two games against duttydave's chaos with my norse, but this time it's skaven vs zons, a whole another story. I don't have a single tackle on my team atm, that might hurt a lot :D.
We win cointoss and decide to kick first. We get a deep kick and put a lot of pressure on the ball with gutter runners on our turn 1. We bag em with our players and they're forced to make a pass move into a cage over a linerat. He fails the interception and they cage up. We get the ball sripped on our turn 4 but fail a leap to get it with the AG5 gutter. To make matters worse, the ball bounces into the hands of a zon lino. They badly hurt the stripballing gutter the turn after so that kinda removes our chances to get the ball again. I use apo on him though. We try to make their offense slow down and succeed quite well. They can't protect their ballcarrier enough on turn 7 when they try to get to scoring range and I'm able to blitz her down with a 1d blitz. We get the ball on the AG5 gutter and they can't get him down on their turn 8. One skaven lino sneaked into their half on turn 7 and we make the pass and score on turn 8. 1-0 for rats.
2nd half starts and we can only field 9 rats. We get the ball up and start searching for an opening. We get after their turn 4 when their catcher fails a block and causes a turnover. We get to their endline and stall for a turn. They foul a gutter runner to badly hurt and we can't safely stall more, so we score 2-0 on turn 5. We only have six players left after their turn 6 and they got the ball deep in my half so there isn't much I can do anymore. I try my best to stop their score, but they quite easily make it on their turn 8. Still, game goes 2-1 for rats.
This was a fine match showing how skaven play to their opponent's mistakes. And by mistakes I don't mean coaching errors, but mistakes made by the players (failed rolls). A few crucial rolls made the game for skaven. One might say I lucked out, but I say if you try every turn, you're bound to get it right once in a half :). And that's often enough for rats. Good game!
