If there is one word to sum up the game from the human side it would be 'pushback'! The humans managed to lineup a string of 2-dice blocks on the Dwarfs in the first half but pushback after pushback was the result. On one memorable turn the humans threw 8 block dice in total and ALL of them were pushbacks.
Some silly mistakes (I kept miscounting the number of squares between players!) in the first half caused the human ball carrier to get sacked. This lead to a prolonged fight for the ball. After a lot of pushbacks, the humans finally got hold the ball just in time to run in a last turn touchdown.
In the second half, the Vaznu Valiants made a fatal error and get sucked into man marking against the Rudes. This degenerated into a brawl and the humans were comprehensively outblocked and lost their defensive shape. Some heroic blitzer play gave the humans the chance to sack the ball carrier, but they could only push him back. The Dwarfs ran in the equaliser very late in the second half leaving the humans no time for a comeback.
A good first game against a nice opponent. Hopefully I won't make so many mistakes next match.”
