“The Greatest Show on Turf's inaugural season looked promising. A favorable schedule provided new teams as opponents in each of their first three matches. The first game was againt the Orcin' Man Men.

The match contained some exciting moments. The OMM received the opening kickoff and slowly marched down the field. A botched pass attempt with the goal-line in sight provided the GST with an opportunity. The HElfs quickly started a counter attack only to have it fail when Bruce tripped over the goal line just before half-time.

The second half saw the Greatest Show score after burning up some of the clock. After some staunch defense, the team appeared to be headed safely to the showers with a win. Just before the final buzzer however, Jones received a severe hit. With no apothecary available to the team, the hit sidelined Jones with a serious concussion.”
