“Grotty Little Tournament VIII - Round 2:

The dark elves kicked first and initially it looked bleak as our two turns resulted in a 1 knockdown and a LOT of pushes. This gave the dark elves time to test our defenses - and it was the stout armor that saved us. We stayed on the pitch and Jason was key - as the elves failed every attempt to escape from him. We did hurt 1 elf - and surf another...still 11 vs 9, we were not making enough headway - until we had a great turn on turn 6 - taking out several more - and Jason's DT took down the attempt on our ball and we were in firm control. With no 1 turn chance, it was 1-0 at the half.

In the second half, the dark elves moved forward for a quick score - and it worked for them, we did not pressure them too much...but still, we were left with 3 turns against only half-strength dark elf team. Some good opening blocking and the elf defense melted quickly - leaving open the pathway for the score and the 2-1 victory.

In all, the dark elves played very well - but the lack of AG 5 or leap or wizard or any tricks ultimately doomed them. They were just outbashed and outmuscled this game.
