Another elf team opposed us - and it certainly looked like this one would have our number early. We recevied first and decided to go for the clawpomb on the treeman - to take that roadblock out of the way. A terrible mistake as we RRed the push block and double skulled. Now we were in trouble as the mighty wardancers charged forward - badly hurting one troll slayer (we used our apoth - on Turn 1!). However, the tree fortunately failed its block and was down on the ground. We quickly burned our RR on turn 2 on another double skull - and it was a mad scramble to try to collect the ball and guard it. The result was hair-raising gfis by our ballcarrier with no RR left. Somewhat safe, we still knew it would be close - the elves did get a 2d blitz off (escaping tents and making the leap) - the ball was loose and a wardancer had it. The wood elves also were playing reckless like their pants were on fire - no risk was too great...but it quickly started to backfire, as the dodging through multiple tacklezones killed a catcher (used apoth). We had the straight up 2d blitz on the wardancer...and with no apoth left, that meant nothing to save him from the broken jaw. In near record time, the elves were being carted off the field.
The elves had their chance, but with injuries piling up, the window of opportunity vanished and we stomped across the bodies for the 1-0 halftime lead.
Second half, still 8 elves left (as all the KOs came back thanks to the 2 babes) - and they managed a nifty play to score after a few turns, and then it was up to the dwarves to grind it out...and we certainly did - the elf armor was weak today and even though the wardancer got another CAS...it was not enough to prevent us from marching the length of the field to finish the game off 2-1.
Thanks for playing - a fun loose game!”
