First drive we scored with next to no difficulty, thanks to Hack Enslash's chainsaw backfiring, knocking him out for the rest of the game (better than a cas since it made Tomay completely waste the bribe).
Second drive we were twice lucky enough to knock down the ball carrier, but both times it was immediately followed by the receiver failing an easy dodge, and eventually Willy Waterloo recovered the ball and ran it the whole way in for 1-1 at half time.
Second half we used the apoth early on a k.o.'d Barry then took the potentially suicidal strategy of marking all of his players to put him under pressure. When Vipper of Vipp failed a block (The Gopher bravely declining to use wrestle against the mummy to force a turnover) it paid off, and a one-dice tackle-pow and some good bounces later we finally had the ball for 2-1.
The undead had three turns to even it up, and Doorman of Solla Sollew made a good dash for it through the hole I left in the defence but despite was taken down.
Big Bad Barry was the player of the match for me, surviving something like six blocks (including the blitz) on the first defensive turn, knocking out a ball carrying King Birtram with a stab that would otherwise have been -2d against blodge, and finally being the first one not to snake the move after freeing the ball to score the winning td.
Excited to have finally broken my much-defeated record against Tomay and looking forward to the rest of the season.”
