Despite doing the vast majority of the blocking (61 to 39) we were on the receiving end of a bit of a beating and sadly carted off Bayonet in a coffin after Marv took his head off.
For the 2nd time I saved scrimmage from a -MA injury, and for the 2nd time Nuffle ensured a skilled player was killed soon afterwards.
The first half was a tough battle, but when it came time to score, Bayonet dropped the ball then failed to pick it up multiple times. As time ran out, a black orc made a break to get in position and snaked the go for it, leaving us without a player to score. Scrimmage was the only casualty of the drive.
In the 2nd half, when the wizard's fireball failed to take out a single orc, it looked good. Then it started to unwravel. First Marv decapitated Bayonet, who was busy fending off the pile on and neglected to duck the giant swinging fist of the ogre. Still, the team got to the ball and eventually caught a scatter, and if nothing else the victory looked secure. However the death of the super star blitzer seemed to unsettle the team as first Last Man Standing knocked himself out on a snaked go for it, dropping the ball, before Scorcha seriously injured himself on a snaked go for it when trying to add cover.
Fortunately goblin Project Isle was on hand to equalize. I'll have to find out what grease Antonio put on the ball in the 1st half as it cost us dearly, as well as what energy drinks he gave his players because they beat us up badly.
Nuffle rubbed salt in the wound with the lowest possible winnings, sapping our coffers and making replacements look unlikely in the near future.”
