“In the final, but against a better team with a better coach... and he has the crowd with him, and starts with the ball. Luckily we start with blitz... Corners the ball in his backfield, and when his Star Wardancer rolls double skulls, it is just for Aelinth to pick up the ball and run in the TD... 1-0 to the Racers :) On his next drive, he scores in three turns, and when we try for a casual toss to Aranwë Sunray inside a group of catchers, he uses his Wardancers to hit Aranwë and the thrower to pick up the ball (inside two tackle-zones). A brawl ensues at my left sideline, where firts Geriath are crowdsurfed (the apo needs to get on the stands and pick up Geriath), and then comes the turn for Lieutenant Dan and the ball to take the surf... Gerian picks up the ball from where the crowd tosses it in, and akes a simpe handover to Yanaë Sunray... who can run in the second goal... but drops the hand-over (even with a re-roll)... and General Balls can carry the ball away from the danger zone for the Smoothies. Anyway, 1-1 after a half where he started with the ball, and we even managed to send Commander Clat off with a smashed knee. Everything looked actually quite bright, even though we still cursed the clumsy reception by Yanaë...

Second half starts very well, with three more Smoothies KO'd to make it 11 against 7, but the Smoothies KO's two the Racers as well, reducing the numerical dvantage back to +2. But then, a nice blitz by the Star Wardancer General Block knocks the ball onto the stands, and the crowd toss it way out of the Racers reach, and Lieutenant Dan can score an easy TD. In th next drive, we choose to keep the ball in the center and send out one catcher in scoring positions on each flank. The Smoothies choose to atack the ball, and General Block once again manage to knock it loose (two dice against...). However, General Balls, the other wardancer, does not manage to grab the ball and it pops out of the big group, making it easy for the Racers to pick it up and score to equalise the game at 2-2 with two and a half rounds rounds to go. In the process, they also manage to give Private Bubba a smashed ankle and to KO Major Suck to set up an 11 against 8 situation. Even so, we had no realistic chance of hindering the TD... Thus, we lost to a better team today, and the game-breaking action was the missed catch by Yanaë on the hand-over at the end of the first half. Very costly, particularly in the Rusch & Pass League.
