An interesting game - where we were on the break of defeat many times, but ultimately won the game in OT.
The first half we were ejected attempting to foul out Prince Moranion and overall we ended up on the bad end of the injury dice even as we tossed more blocks. However, we stalled out the half for a fairly typical drive and 1-0 lead.
The second half things got interested as our opponent pushed downfield and we snaked a gfi to give them space. They continued to stall, so we put more pressure on them with DT next to the ball. They decided the best option was just to dodge away from the DT for the score - which is what happened. 1-1. There was still 4 turns left. The kickoff however was a blitz. A single catcher caught it, but we still were able to get a 2d blitz with wrestle against the ballcarrier (75% chance with RR)...but it was double push RR to double skull. Instead of scoring our opponent moved to the goaline. A few gfis and a 3+ 2+ dodge gave us a 2d blitz - finally we got the ballcarrier down. We had an outlet to go coast to coast - just needed pickup (2+ with surehands) pass (2+ with RR) catch (2+ with RR) - and we snaked the pickup! Argh! Our opponents 1d blitzed to push us away from the ball and picked it up - again opting not to score - but stall some more. We got the 5+ dodge though and surfed the ball...the throw-in was in the middle of lots of guys, but we managed the pickup. On T16, they opted to leave our receiver free to do a -2d blitz on the ball. The blitz failed so we just needed a 3+ pass, 2+ catch for the win - but failed the 3+ throw and failed the RR.
Onto OT we went - and we won the toss...and played it safe racing up the sidelines with protection - a fairly easy score at this point and game was over 2-1.
Overall, we had some very bad dice at critical times and gave up the blitz kickoff. However, the failed stall by our opponent gave us the opening we needed to pull this one out. An unlikely outcome after the difficult start.
Thanks for the game! Now onto the finals!”
